RC Boats + RC Helicopter with camera = Awesome footage

Here is a short video from this past weekend (5/4/2013)

Aerial Eye and Das Boot Haus got together for a test run for some raw footage of RC Boats racing against each other from a birds eye view. Not bad considering the gusty winds and the fact we were just messing around. We will have more cameras set up on a buoy, underwater, on the copter, a few on land and another 1 on a boat the next we go out. Stay tuned for more footage........

Thanks for all the comments. This Saturday May 18th we will be doing the second round of footage. We will have more than just the birds eye view from the Helicopter. We are trying to get enough footage to put together a video that mimics real off shore racing. Stay tuned for the next batch of videos.

Hey guys,

we did the same thing already 4 years ago:

Funny thing is we also had the best shooting with the heli flying sideways. So a hint is to place the camera on the heli not straight forward but sideways in a 45° angle down. Then the heli can fly straight and faster, pilot just has to keep it on same "heigh" that the boat is on the screen. But definitely very very well made guys, keep up the work!

Thanks, the pilot of the helicopter really makes the difference. Your vid is awesome. I love it. Last weekend the wind was gusting over 30mph. So we plan on some more shooting tomorrow.
