ok so i have just finished my genesis it has the stock motor that came with it. I believe its 2050kv, and I'm running 2 3 cell batt totaling 6 cell with the trinegy 180a speed controller. I think from what i have ready here I'm way over safe rpm ratings. what will this cause? Also there is timing that can be set on speed controller and other settings. sould i mess with any of this or just leave it in default settings? I have a 654 prop i believe on it as well?96844968459684696847

With that prop, motor and power setup I give it maybe 1 minute before failure. Possibly major failure.
That motor has a history of failing with much less power supply.
The flex will probably break and destroy the tunnel while whipping around after the break.
After the motor lets go it will probably take out the esc, especially if you don't realized that has happened and continue to apply throttle.
This is base on both my buddies and my self experiences.
Good luck.

ok should i change prop and back down batt power?

how do you upgrade shaft since it look to be different them my gieco and removes from the inside of the boat?
i ran it for a few minutes and it just seemed to get hot, but did not run it hard? also what is the timing on my esc mean

It's been a long time but I believe you put standard bushing in the strut and use a single piece flex.
I would start with a 445 prop.
I ran a 2200kv castle motor on 4s in mine and it would hit mid fifties with a m445 with no heat issues.

ok so if i go to a 445 and 4s i should be fine with my setup also do you know where you ran your batt and what about the timing?

It will run well but don't be surprised if the motor still fails. It's just not a good one.
I don't remember the location of the batts but as long as you around the 30% cog from the back of the sponsons you should be close to start.
I run my boats with the timing on a conservative setting. Just never noticed much of a difference with higher timing.
Put it at the 11.25 and you'll be fine.
Think about getting a better motor.
Look at the pics of my genesis on my profile. It ran well.
Also remember to set the strut level with the sponsons.

i set the strut i will put it on 11.25 what dose the timing do what is the difference from low timing to high. i looked at yours looks good! what size motor should i get that will fit in stock motor mount either leopard or a hobby king motor just for the price to run the 6 cell setup.

On the motor's running 6s. I would look for a motor in the 1500-1600kv range

That 2075kv motor on 4s with a x442 and have fun.
Than think about up grading if you need more speed.
Hears a good motor for 6s and will fit the mount to.http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17720__XK3674_B_1400KV_Brushless_Inrunner.html

I just looked at your pictures. If it was me, I'd bypass the motor mount cooling. And just go to the esc, then motor can then out.

And change out your battery plugs, to 5.5mm connectors

He also has the water lines backwards on the motor,
Should be low in and high out for better cooling.

I missed that one Lenny, good catch

You would bypass motor mount? Also I thought that water flowing down would move out faster and cool better why is it other way around?
What do you guys think for that motor from hobby king would that be a fast reliable setup for 6s? Also I understand having to much kv but what's the advantage to 1400kv to say a 2000kv like I see so many people running in this boat?

I would try it with out it first and test temps and than try with it and test temp,
Why not it is there,
The water fill from the bottom and over flow out the top,
I would say 25% if not more cooling that way.
That motor runs nice in a geico on 6s.
2000kv and on 6s will go boom in a short time.

i replaced motor with the 1400k motr that was recommended above where can i get a strut upgrade for this boat?

Are you going to have the rudder offset ?
If so you use a strut with a offset rudder combo.
That is what I have on my Daytona and it works great,
I think makes the hull handle a lot better because of it.

Where should the strut be set on this hull with the 45mm prop?
thanks

I have mine level with the sponsons,
And I think it ran great there.
I am using a x442 and was told a m445 would push it a little faster,
But I would need to shorten my run times some.
