Auto Air water based paints?

I just started painting with createx auto air and wicked colors, they are water base and some are waterborne. I'm new to painting but after some trial and error learning they are very easy to use, thin and spray. No time limit to cover with another coat or clear. And they flas off quick when using the reducer. And they don't need to be heat treated, will cure with just air. Recommended to use a 2k clear. (Urethane )
I have some trial n errors on my MADD Catt build- didn't use a sealer ( not necessary but I messed up some along way). Love the low voc, I paint in the garage and clean up inside in kitchen sink, and I don't get in trouble from other occupant of the house :)

Not very technical with paint.

I used a spray can polyurethane when I did my one boat. Results were horrible. The poly was yellowed and pulled up with tape...

Im not looking to get carried away and fancy, just want a good solid paint job. I can get a wide variety of colors for about $8 a bottle. Car paint will cost 10x's that, so these are attractive.

Well I ended up with a nice assortment of candy colors, medium aluminum base, white and black sealer.

Following the pdf for RC boat i bought the SEM 39133 flexible primer/sealer. I shot that on wood and on fiberglass. I did two coats on the glass with a wet sand 600 grit. Then I went in and mixed 50/50 white and Auto Air sealer. Was to dark so I went to a 75% white blend and it was closer to the primer color. Let that cure for a few days (lol) then I hit it with scotch brite. Stuff dont sand out... So I needed an alternative and scotch brite worked awesome. Then I shot on the medium aluminum mettalic. One nice layer of it. She dried in 20 minutes or so. I went on to the candy. I tried out the Magenta and Im really liking it. One thing to note is it MUST BE LIGHT COATS. You need to really work it around a bit before going back to the same spot. Otherwise it orange peels up real bad.

This is my 25" DF knock off rescue boat. The candy yellow looks more like a mettalic beer or ginger ale color. The magenta really isnt THAT pink.

Looks cool.

Now I need a good aerosol clear.

I used AutoAir water based on my Lynx as well as my Phil Thomas boat. Cleared with PPG. LOVE the results.

Will never go back to bomb-can paint.

Ppg clear is nice stuff. You use the dc3000?

use rust-oleum ultra cover primer (also bonds to plastic on the can). first day 1 coat wait 30 minutes them coat 2. next day wet sand hull with 600 grit and then 1000 grit. next two more coats and let dry for 24 hrs. then wet sand with 1000 grit. repeat process until it is a good as you want it to be. with painting prep is 90 percent of a good finish. the tape pealed it because you either put too many coats on before you let the first dry or you had the wrong paint. no matter what peoeple say even spray paint needs 24 hrs to cure.

Not true on the curing of auto air, depending on what primer is used you may need to usea sealer mix in with a base color or just not use a primer.

I've found, with waterborne paints, waiting too long for paint to dry before taping, causes peeling. I let it flash, then tape right away. Waterborne doesn't burn into the next coat the way solvents do, it's important to get the paint on rather quickly.

my 24 hour reccomendation is for water sanding primer. not top coat or clear
