I have had this hull for two years or so collecting dust. Time to get to business. Stock motor and 19volt battery seem to get it to plane, but it is not a proportional radio system. When I hit reverse, water floods the hull as well.

Today I gutted the hull and added a few goodies. Traxxas 2075 servo and a 2450 kv brushless motor. I retained the stock gearbox, but I think I will change to a direct drive eventually and move the prop away from the rear 1-2 inches because from the YouTube i looked at, and from remembering when I ran it before it seems to push water on the surface. I am thinking its from the big plastic thing that sticks down in front of the prop and removing that and extending the drive will help. I guess I will see how it reacts once I run it, hopefully tomorrow.

I may also remove one of the rudders to cut down on drag, but I will have to see how it goes.

What voltage will you be running - hopefully not the 19 volts you referenced. That motor should be fine on 2S, but the gear box may not survive for long. And yes, that big shroud in front of the prop does a lot of bad things and no good things to the boat's performance. Good luck!

I just got back from running it. I ran it with a 120a speed control on 4s. I don't have the water cooling in yet so I did two really short runs. Under 1m each. First run had the plastic prop, it just plowed and spat water up, didn't really get on plane. The plastic from the prop is just bending on any thrust. Second run was with a prop I used on my shockwave 36. Man, what a difference. It got on plane, and ran very good for a plastic flat bottom v. If I gave it a quick tap on the gas it would jump out of the water. It seems as the plastic rudders just flex when trying to turn so I need to get a metal one and reinforce the hull. I'm sure the gears will go soon, but I will run them until they go and then go to direct drive. I got a video of run 1, I will upload it later today. I need to tweak the rudders to get a vid of the other prop.

Not sure how to embed from an ipad, but here is the video of the first run. I guess it can get on plane, but with any throttle just leaned right.
