Hello , gotta say I'm hooked on FE's . Where too start. My 1st kick at it was with a Crappas Spartan :( , mind you they fixed it almost every time with me footing the return shipping bill (enough said) .......on too bigger and better :) , i have red mostly all of pirate builds , but with different hardware on the a$$ end i don't think it will all fit so any help is very welcome . I have two set-ups both with 180's , 4082 and a 4092 on 2-3s 5000's here are some pic's of the progress

I laid carbon kevlar inlay with the west systems (luv using there product) , re-enforced the canopy with regular glass . I have some CF left over so i might add it to it for looks also . I bought a strut from ose , not knowing what i wanted for a hull and bought the hardware . is there such a thing as too much rudder on this boat . OSE you ROCK thanks for the speedy shipping .

I'd be curious to know if that rudder would work as well Mike. Are you still picking up the one like mine?

Savage Skidoo

Yes Kevin , we thinks OSE has sent it ....wont be long and we'll be building again.

Ur rudder is to close to the prop! Ur gonna have to move it over to the right more. You will also have to grind those pretty trim tabs too, to get the rudder installed. Is that the speedmaster 60,4'' offset rudder?

Savage Skidoo
01-19-2013, 09:02 AM
i'm thinking its too big . its the speed master 013 , i have another one coming , i really like the trim tabs .

01-19-2013, 09:20 AM
92213 This is the DF 35. The 35 pirate has abit more transom but as you can see things want the same piece of property! Yeah, the tabs are a work of art! I too would hate to see them facing a grinder!!

Thanks h20 1 , thats a nice set up you got there , i just wanted my ass end to be sexy and different than my buddies build . in this case is there too much rudder that will hamper speed . what set up are you running in your DF 35 . Thanks for the reply ;)

Thanks Savage,im gonna be running a Neu 1527 1y on 6s with a Hydra Ice 240. I will be building it soon. I sent the hull to Keith Bradley to have the whole inside inlayed in CF.Mine didn't come with the stringers so reinforcement was a must.

Savage Skidoo
01-19-2013, 10:28 AM
i layed mine , it was the 1st attempt at lay'n it , the west systems , and a glass rolling tool is a must to get a good lay . When my bud chimes in i'll get him to post the glass rolling tool , is cheap to $10 .

WOW!! I'd never know that was ur first attempt at laying CF, looks GREAT!!! Yeah, having the right tools for the job makes the finished product more pleasing to the eye.

Thanks i'm very pleased also , i have the 2 part foam for the floatation in the bow and up the sides , i have all the parts ......just confused with the big rudder , maybe change up the tabs :( , or wait for my other rudder to come in next week .

The rudder will work but the tabs will prolly be in the way. Speedmaster rudders are beefy! I was going to use those tabs with mine but there was no way to get around grinding them. Too nice for that!! You can also trim that rudder down.

Thank you for the compliment. I hope to get the lines a little more straight next time. The bricks were piling up behind me while I was doing it. Next time I won't be so nervous. The west system 206 gave us plenty of time. Enough to mix up a second batch in the middle of it.
I picked the tool up locally here just outside Toronto from port Whitby marine supply. I'm guessing that most or some marine suppliers would carry something similar. It worked very well for rolling up the sides and up underneath too. No bubbles remaining. I just did a quick google and found this for an example. About half way down the page

Yes thanks for the compliment also . Prep everything from covering up the hull , cutting the CF to size before you mix the epoxy , when you lay it in try not too move or disturb the weave as it will separate , bush in more epoxy then roll :) , why aren't we building Mr .

I'd like to roughly mock up everything in the boat and try and find the cog.

I would like to use one of these too http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?37133-Isolation-loop-and-using-a-anti-spark-battery-lead
Sometimes other people want to help us get our boats back and get there before I can in the kayak. At least we could tell them to pull out the safety loop. I hold my breath when other people grab our over turned boats. Even when we let them know to keep clear of the prop. They have no idea what could happen. Us putting down our radios just doesn't cut it for me. Would you be interested as well?

Savage Skidoo
01-20-2013, 12:50 PM
Kevin , i been scrolling through the pages , good idea . Added safety never hurts , we should keep this in mind when building . I like the one with the wire coming through the hull and reconnecting . You will never loose your wire .

I didnt realize you started a thread on your build till Kevin pointed it out
I am far behind finishing my winter projects but took the easy way out by getting a couple of OSE builds. Steven rocks.
Sorry off topic but I finally did some more work on the jet boat.
btw Mike, nice avatar. Is it yours or mine...lol

Could be the LVC(low voltage cutoff) kicking in. That is a SK or T-180 in there right? I have mine programmed to 5s and 3.2 volts. Auto detect will cause this. Also make sure your throttle is calibrated.

jim82
05-31-2013, 01:59 AM
Im thinking its probably the last thing shawn said..Go recalibrate throttle and tell us if that works..You can usually tell if its the LVC kicking in..

Savage Skidoo
05-31-2013, 08:24 AM
Thanks very much for the reply s , i don't believe its the LCV. However the ESC is set to auto detect , i will try to re calibrate the unit and set the LCV to 3.2 . She's very stable and a fun boat to drive . I will be out on the water this weekend and will let you know . Thanks :Praying:
