Very nice congrats it is cooking!!!!

I am at 52 mph stock motor and ESC, Grim 4s pack, new 5.5 connectors, Hughey cable, Aeromarine cable collet, strut straight and Octura M645 S/B prop with the blades thinned to .015-.018" (.381-457 mm).

BTW Within minutes I tried an Octura X642 S/B 49-50 mph. No thinning required slight balancing needed a real good handling and fast prop.

Then I also tried my third prop an Octura M545 48-49 mph I did not like it because of lots of torque steer hard to drive and poor handling.

But I have not thinned the blades on this M545 prop yet and they are FATTIES. That might be why.

Hope you guys don't mind me jumping in on this thread, don't want to start a new one.
I've read up a bit on the threads on this boat, but maybe not as closely as I should have :)

So I ran my Revolt today with a bunch of different props and could not hit 42 mph, 41.9 was it!

All my testing today was bone stock, trim tabs neutral, strut neutral, 4S pack as far back in the tray as it would go and the pad removed.
Tested using Thunder Power 1P4S 65C pack.
I have not scuffed the bottom of the hull yet, but I was running on some beautiful water today with just a slight ripple.

Tried the following props:
42x55
M445
X642
M545
M645
M647
All S/B/P and the last three were back cut.
After all runs the motor and ESC were nice and cool.

Why didn't I run faster ?!?!
Should I do what the club guys are doing, pull the strut and run a SV27 stinger centered?
Is there a magic trim adjustment I missed?

Thanks for your knowledagble input as always.

Here's a bit of footage from today with the M647...FUN DAY!!!!:

Tommorow I'm headed out to try to find my buddies DF26...somewhere at the bottom of Heart Lake :)

Put a straight edge on the bottom of the V, the bottom of the strut should be about 1/4" above and paralell.

My Revolt stock motor & esc gets 48mph in good water.

What i have noticed is that not all the stock motors are created equal there are some that have seen over 50 on a stocker with a m545 but i could not break 40 with mine. From what i have seen is the m445 or m545 is the best prop for this boat some have had luck with the x642 but my best results have been with the m series and my strut has no angle its dead even. I would try another motor perhaps a UL-1 motor if you wanna keep that stock feel to your boat me personally just never had luck with stock components others have just not me.:tiphat:

Could it be as easy as resetting the Tx ?
I had the same trouble (stuck @ 38.7) and I found out that I was not setting the throttle trim knob to 2.00 o'clock. That's all it took was full throttle.

Thanks Mike,
I'm using a Spektrum MR200 and DX2E. I double checked that the throttle trim was at 100%. Then I set it at 125% just to make sure, no noticable change in RPM.

Appreciate the advice, I have another new 1800KV motor I can try, then I'll drop in a UL1.
My fastest run of 41.9 was with the m545.
None of the others would break 40.

I double checked, it is parallel and within a hair of 1/4"
What prop do you run at 48MPH?

I'm not trying to break any speed records, but I would like to squeeze out as many horses as reasonable.
Thanks for the tip!

Never did find my buddies DF26. Taped down hatch blew off when the boat flipped at 50 mph, he had a large sized pool noodle in the nose but no joy. Go figure, the hatch had no flotation and it was the only thing we recovered. The rest of it is somewhere in 12-14 feet of milfoil ridden, murky lake water.
Dang...and I was driving :(

You don't still have the stock Deans battery connectors do you?

capnswanny

No Deans this time, Castle 5.5. Starting to make the switch after a couple melt-downs.
Thanks!

Try grim 45 68 on 4s. Strut up all the way and turn fins up an tilted forward quite a bit to reduce drag. Boat will still turn great. I recently put 180 esc to run 5s. 42 55 prop.

Thanks for the tips...I'll add the prop to my buy list and try your setup with my 642 and 545.
This weekend I'll raise the strut up all the way and adjust the turn fins as you suggest...if that doesn't work I'm going to add a little nose up with the strut to run a little more loose.

I did switch out the 1800 with a new 1800 with no change in speed. Also dropped in a NIB 2030Kv, also no appreciable change in speed! :(
I'm putting the 1800 back in for testing.

Next to try is the ESC....only electrics I haven't changed out yet.

Don't forget about the weight, as in battery weight. I run a 4200 mah single pack and with a m545 consistantly get 48 mph. If your running a 5000mah pack, I doubt you'll see much over 43 or 44 mph.

I've had great luck with the Revolt and tweeks. I have not changed the original motor or ESC and think 48 is about the max mph you can get from this set up.

I would agree. I am running a 5s 5450 120c burst pack with turnigy 180 esc. I think it runs close to 55

when i got 61mph i was using a 5000mah 5s pack sky lipo but i removed the factory battery mount and installed a new one that sits lower in the hull

I picked up a few knots today.

First I raised turn fins all the way up and angled so the bottom of the fin was parallel to the hull.
I brought up the aft end of the strut just a hair to lift the bow (maybe 1-2 degrees). It really aired out and ran 43.4 on S/B M545 on the TP 65C 5000mAh 4S pack.

Next I swapped in a 4000mAh pack and gained 0.2mph.

Finally I ran a S/B/De-tongued/Texas Cut X648 and hit 44.8mph.
This was a 5 minute run and everything came back in as cool as Fonzie!

I'm going to pull the battery tray and lower the battery next, don't expect to see a big gain in speed but I expect it will handle better.
Also thinking I'm going to ditch the stock mount, lower the motor, and replace the stock stuffing tube, might even scootch the motor a little further aft.
Got a new X642 I'm going to De-tongue and back cut to try as well. The 648 had monster torque (what a hole shot) but the motor didn't spool up like it could.

Thanks for all the tips guys!
Corey

Tune prop more if you are having slingshot effect out of the hole. Or raise strut slightly.

I don't think you can avoid the torque of a big wheel like that X648 :)
I just put it on there to see what it would do...

My numbers aren’t that great. Stock Revolt w/ Mark Sholund X642 it only runs 38.9 with the 4s 5000 mah battery in the back of the stock battery mount. I cut the back of the battery mount off and pushed the battery almost all the way to the motor and it runs 39.8. same set up with just a S&B 42x55 it runs 41.5. the boat is not free enough, I think it needs a little positive strut trim, right now it’s 0ยบ, tabs flat and turn fins and rudder kicked back.

As reference my SuperVee 27r runs 42.5 with the same 42x55, much looser and quicker. I haven’t tried it with the X642.

Ok guys, revolt stock motor 180 turnigy esc and running on 5s for two months. Smoked the motor today. What's a good replacement motor I can run the revolt on 5s. I have neu castle motors on all of my onroad rc stuff. Even though its a great little boat.
Not sure if I want to spend 300 bucks on it for a top shelf set up.

So I twisted the stock shaft and deep sixed my M545 prop last week, some damage to the shaft tube so it had to go.
I wanted to keep it simple but lower the motor and move aft a bit so I did this:
Boat was more stable and ran 46.9 mph on 4s1p 40c batt and M645 prop....cornered like a dream but a little loose in the straights.
I temporarily cut out the back of the batt tray to slide the batt further aft and leveled the strut a bit...still plan to replace the stock batt tray, just didn't have time.
Drilled holes to insert screws to the aft of the mounts but found it was very solid as pictured so left it as is....I'll probably put some more screws in when I get the gumption :)
Fair Winds!
