Actually I have only the rudder for the hull an Arrow Shark (????) with long 150mm bracket , I will use those stingers from HOR, model made for 1/4" shaft. I will build a 1/4" shaft steped down to 3/16" for propellers and a 3/16" hole at the other side to glue a 3/16" flex shaft

I would go for the red stripes but it still looks great as it is... I see you have some red tape there, stick it on one side, stand back and see what YOU feel????
I would paint it as the water will peel vinyl off.

looks like a grate wardware. should be a fast boat. getting the stingers low as possible on a build like this is what will be the trick to getting fast.
Don't be afraid to work the rudder over to get the most from it. some stingers only pick up water frome one side. you should modify so that it picks up from both and polish when done. Are the stingers from HOR Racing?

Alfa Spirit
01-28-2013, 05:53 PM
The rudder have 2 water inlets on both side , 2 on right side and 2 on left side that will give a good pressure for watercooling.
Yes the stingers are HOR models (3/16")

I made a set of cap banks for ESC, caps are 1000µF 63 Volts

I live in a place that has ice, this time of year. I'm ice fishing this time every year. It could be the problem. Or he just is taking his time. I have a lot of builds that I jump on and take a brake and work on something else for a while. You just need to look at other builds for awhile and wait.

Here is what I need :

- 2 x High Voltage speed controlers

- An other receiver Spektrum MR200

- A medium servo strong enough (15Kg)

- A LiFe 2S battery

- 4 x 5S 5000mAh batteries

- spare parts ....

OK, forget about when the boat will be build for a moment, I got questions with the appearance of the cables, if they are from the same maker, why do they look so different? I also had on that had a single darker strand spiraling thru out the length of the cable.
Also, if you look at the brazed part, the top one is kind of bumpy, I had ordered one too and it is even bumpier, guess the silver solder was not perfectly smoothed out , it is well made but would it affect balance?
BTW, if they are from different makers, I still want to learn, so I will be very grateful if someone cares to answer here, sorry to go away from topic for a moment.
Thanks,
Tim

I know with some wire rope manufactures they use a single strand of a different color to mark their ropes. Also some manufactures don't make right hand lay ropes is all sizes, so they could be from different places.

Many people have asked the same questions, some even weren't that friendly. I think Alfa Spirit doesn't mind to be teased, and to be honest, he has been very generous with all the teasing. :buttrock:I think the satisfaction for him is to see us getting crazy. lol... Fella1340
08-22-2013, 03:05 PM
I am pretty sure I am going to get this hull. I have all the hardware, electrics etc. The motor I will be using
is a TP power 5660 (5692)6y 820kv. Running 10-12s. Some people have commented it may be to small, others
Have said it will work well. I have seen the videos to back up this motor though and it seems 60+MPH are obtainable.
The proof will be getting a boat together! As this will be a winter project I won't know for sure till the spring!
I have great confidence this will work well. A lot of guys are saying the tp5850 is a real great motor. I have seen only
one in a video and it looked really good.

Hi Alfa, I am very instrested in your build. More so than some others as I plan on buying the hull.
I was waiting for a promised refund on the original hull I bought for this project, it hasn't came and
the Guy thinks its going to go away by not reading emails. I will be posting pictures of the hull next week
Asking for advice on repairing or trashing the hull. I got a little sidetracked there, back onto topic. Where did you
Get the scale decals for the boat? There very nice and I am wondering if they are available and in different colors.
As well did you happen to notice if the hull is wet joined all the way around? Or are the e just strips of fiberglass
Here and there with some type of glue in between? I have been told the hull is a very light layup from another member
on here and will require reinforcin. Do you feel it will need reinforcing with the setup you are using?
Basically I am looking for a straight boat that has been joined all the way around with fiberglass (top and bottom deck)
And a hatch that sits in place reasonably flat. I can work around anything else, I just can't afford to end up with I have sitting
here again. I understand it is not gelcoated. Any ideas on what they have used to finish over the fiberglass. I apologize
for all the questions. My last buy has limited my options for the moment until I get that fellow straightened out I am on a tight
budget. Lesson #1486, wait to you have hull in hand before you spend over $1000 on motor, esc, hardware, batteries
Etc. He seemed such a stand up guy and I am still confused as to what happened. I am truly starting to
Believe I wasn't meant to have a big electric boat! It's only since I found OSE that has the things have started
To work out as they should have. I think this hull will satisfy my need for it to be able to handle rough water ans hopefully
perform OK on the flat water days. I really like the shape of the hull, for the price is really does have style and nice lines.
Your feedback will be appreciated Alfa! Sorry to bust up your build thread the way I have, I just don't know another way
Of going about it. Thanks, Jeff

I was doing some other searching to see if I could find the boat for sale elsewhere and I did. The okey
100 guy selling the boats on eBay had a website as well. I think the boats are being painted up, having
The motors/escs and such places in them and then being used a "photo" boats for the listings. One listing
plainly had no hardware on the back at all but it appeared in side shots when you couldn't see how it was
attached. Strangest thing. I didn't write the email down but if you search 50"fountain ed boat you will come across
it. Perhaps the stuff is left properly unmounted until a customer order is made? I didn't see the boat Alfa has here on
It but it appears both of them are dressing up boats for? Photo shoots? Strange that neither of them had a finished
Boat but okey100 is selling them as completed boats. May be a way to keep costs down on hardware etc? Weird.

Hi, I didn' t work on this boat. Fjelling, run a twin setup for stability, no torque effects. 2 x 8S to 2 x 12S is the good voltage range for this 130cm long deep vee
MXZ have all propellers size left + right, Octura 457 is a good size. The hull must be reinforced with light carbon layers.
In France a guy built his own deep vee from A to Z, 147cm long.

How you would like to do this. Thanks Jeff

Congrats Jeff
so we will have two build threads one single and one twin.
We will get a lot of comparism.
I only feel sorry that we can´t ride them together in spring.

It should be pretty cool seeing the different ideas coming together on the same hull. I have already added
What may turn out to be a major headache and possibly as disappointment to the build. Although I am
Confident I will be able to work through the issues. I ordered the remote adjustable trim tabs and the remote
adjustable stinger drive from kintec. I just couldn't resist. The trim tabs have been calling to me for months
Now and seeing a servo adjustable stinger on the market as well I wasn't strong enough to resist the temptation.
I have heard nothing but bad things about going this route. You can't this, and that won't work because...
Strangely though I haven't found anybody that has personally used them. So what the heck! Why not?
I had already purchased a dual rudder drive setup with a strut built in, a really nicely built piece. I was going
to use a carbon fiber tube running into the hull so I could benefit from using a strut versus a stinger. Now I have
to get rid of the strut idea and incorporate the servo adjustable stinger into the dual rudder setup. Its going to
be a lot of work sorting it all out! The servo adjustable trim tabs should be easy enough to work out
but the servo adjustable stinger is a whole different animal. It works off a small Cam type design.
I don't see a 1/4 scale servo being able to hold it in position hough based on the current setup
So I will have to work in a better mechanical advantage so the servo won't need to work as hard
to hold position.
Well, having said that it will likely be the the same issues to overcome with the trim tabs. Most people have
Said its a waste of time and not necessary and so on. I will be doing most of my running on lake Ontario though
and there's rarely a day when conditions are ideal to run any type of speed. I just think it will be cool, I enjoy building as
much as I do running and am looking forward to the challenge. Sink or swim on it, time will tell. I can't wait to
try out! I may need to lengthen the stinger. Its around 4 1/2"taller long, do you think that's to short on a 50"
Boat? I am also wondering where the trim tabs would be best positioned. Inboard closest to the stinger
or outboard and have have regular trim tabs next to the stinger. I was thinking of doing twin sets, adjustable
Inboard and outboard but I only have four channels to use! It also sounded like a recipe for.disaster or atleast
A lot of frustration. I don't know if I mentioned what I am running but its going to be a TP power 5692 820kv
6wye motor running between 8-12s. Starting at 8s and working my way up. I am using a SF 300300a amp esc.
The winding of the motor gives a maximum amp.draw of 156amps. TP suggested using a esc over 200 amps so
I am not sure what that means? Using a castle bec that is god to 12s (maybe 14s, can't remember). I have been
told its not enough motor by many and others have said it will work good. I will find out when it hits the water!
Sorry ALFA for complety hijacking your thread but seeing as though we are all building the same thing I hope you
don't mind! I am hoping you are going to get going on your boat to! I would love to.see you complete a boat! You
can do it! Curious as to what you have decided to run Alex and any other plans you have for the boat.
Hopefully we can sure some ideas and save ourselves so frustration. My boat will not be making any speed records
in the build time department. Having back surgery in January so it really it's limits on how much I can do. It leaves
A ton of time for planning though. (Hence the adjustable stinger and trim tabs!) Came jeff

Wow Jeff thats a long to do list.
Trimm tabs we used 20years back servo without arm and endpoints to use just the motor to drive the longerd axle/shaft with a spindel.
For me stinger schould be 4.8 long.
All the best healthwise.

Thanks for recommending the hull Alfa, I got mine today. I can't believe how well its finished. There's not
A spot on the boat that needs work (other the the filling the vent holes). The hull needs some stiffening up
with carbon fiber but this is very impressive! I really could sent it straight to paint! The hard part will be keeping it nice on the outside while I do all the work. Glad I bought this one and it showed up at the door in less than 10 days packed very very well! Thanks for finding this one Alfa!

Hi Alfa, I am interested in the JPEG files for the decals. Let me know what needs to happen to make
this work. I will need to be changing the colors once I settle on paint. You wouldn't happen to have
The file for the word fountain with the fountain crest in the middle of it would you? I don't know if that even makes sense. I really want to have the fountain crest as a major part of the theme for my boat. I suppose I just need to find someone who makes this stuff. Hows the build coming Alfa? What's happening over there in Paris?

I found those very cool trimtabs on EBay. I need two ESC may be Hobby Wing Seaking 130A HV ...$$$$

The setup is: 4092 motors 930kV, 10S batteries, 34000 RPM unload

Hey Alfa, thanks for posting the decals. I will try and find the fountain logos on ebay as well. I wont be using to many decals and the paint scheme will be something different altogether. Once I have nailed down the colour scheme I will figure out what shiny stuff I will put on it then. The real work has to happen before I really bother with all that. How are things going? Have you got anything mounted or any holes drilled. Come on Alfa, lets see you make the plunge. Get the drill and dremel and lets see something happen. Surely there isn't anymore planning to do. What you got there looks fantastic, get inside the boat! I have to admit I find it strange you giving out all this advice to people and telling them how things should or could be done and I haven't seen you do anything other than buying parts and shining up the outside of the boat. Whats up with that? Have you not got a workshop to get things done it? Lets here whats going on!

Hi Alfa, what's going on with the build, seriously? It seems you have no intention of finishing
It. Its been close to a year. I was really looking forward to seeing all that nice stuff mounted. You
had tape on the transom of the boat. I thought you were ready to go. Seriously, what's going on. I would like to see you suceed here. What's up? Don't overthink things, just layout and drill. You must know somebody to that you could work together with to get this rolling. I still have faith you can do it, I just don't understand why things get to this point and stop suddenly. Lots of people here willing to help. All you have to do is ask. Jeff

I want that boat!!!!!!

I would go for the red stripes but it still looks great as it is... I see you have some red tape there, stick it on one side, stand back and see what YOU feel????
I would paint it as the water will peel vinyl off.
Heat looking boat you have!

Where do you get that hull from?
