This is kinda of a continuation from my first boat to see how different voltages effect motor and esc temps. And to see the speed difference in my boat hulls.

here is a link to the first boat: 22" rigger, leopard 2860 4050kv, 1- 7.4v 5000mah, etti 150 esc. boat only did 29mph with w/ x438.

I transfered the running gear over to the delta force 22" vortex hydro and these are the numbers from the runs. boat ran well on first run so I have done no tunning and am very happy with the new hull. the only difference is two battery packs.

1st test
4050kv motor, 2 hyperion 7.4v 45c 5000mah batts parallel.
air temp 66
water temp 67
1:20 run time
33.9mph thats 4 over the rigger with no tuning. :)
batt temp 76
motor temp 80
esc temp 125
battery voltage at end of run 8.0 and used 2000mah

2nd test- just added a capp bank
a t 68
w t 67
r t 2:30 full throttle whole time
34.8mph
b t 85
m t 120
esc 140
batt v. 7.8 used 3000mah

3rd run- motr changed to leopard 2860 2190kv & batts in series 14.8v
a t 72
w t 68
r t 2:30 on and off the throttle, the pond is getting to short for this speed
37.8mph
b t forgot to check
m t 100
esc 120
batt v 7.9 used 2100mah

the boat was chattering across the water and was catching air when hitting cross wakes. I guess i need to add foam in the hull just in case. when I use the top speed finder on the OSE site it calculates a +3mph between motors, and that is what I got. my top speed is not what it claculates, I do not know the answer to this.

higher voltage will most always run things cooler... ( unless you're over-propped or under motored !! )
and get some foam quick !

...my top speed is not what it claculates, I do not know the answer to this.
Several potential reasons:

- Your pond may not be large enough for you to hold WOT long enough to reach top speed.
- A boat which "chatters" across the water will always run slower - the prop needs to stay in the water all the time.
- You may not have the best setup - strut too deep or too shallow, CG wrong, etc.
- You packs may not be delivering enough voltage/amperage - not all packs are the same.
- You may have too much wire between the packs and ESC - long wires suck up power.

Like the Doctor says - get some flotation in that hull pronto!

well I have been doing some testing with strut height but my top speed was the 37.8. no foam yet, walmart does not have pool noodles. The boat did flip and luckily ended right side up.

I just swapped motors and installed a aquacraft 36-56-1800kv.

a t 68
w t 68
r t 2:10
33.1 mph
b t 87
m t 92
esc 98
mah charging

well I am very happy with this test. esc temp dropped 25*. set cog forward a bit and boat run pretty smooth, it starts to chatter on the sponsons on WOT after a sec or two, maybe turn fin? when I put in this set up in the OSE calculator it shows a top speed of around 38, with a little tunning I think I can get it. I can only assume that the small 28mm dia motors are not able to push this size boat effectively.
