Dual pick-up rudder

Hello everyone, I'm new. I purchased lots of upgrades for my Spartan from OSE that I just sold and found out about the fourm that way. I am purchasing a Revolt 30 and would like to put a dual pick up rudder from OSE for a Spartan on it. I know your thinking that it won't just bolt up and thats right it won't but I took measurements and the whole rudder assembly from where it bolts to the hull back should bolt right up. The Spartan set up seems longer so I may have to get a longer servo linkage but other than that it seems that it should work. Long story short am I crazy for thinking about putting a dual pick up rudder on a Revolt? Thanks for any input guys!

no your not crazy:frusty: it just boils down to you really will not need it i know your used to a spartan but when you get the revolt you will see the difference btween a rc boat and a quality rc that being the revolt to sum it up you simply wont need it :thumbup:

The stock Revolt 30 drive system is very well matched and runs cool with most of the common props you can find on this forum. I run an M545 and get 48 mph with out any heat problems. Nothing but the prop has been modified.
If your planning to change the motor and ESC, the dual pickup may be worth the money. If you just like 2 hoses instead of 1, it may be worth the money.

1900kv is too high. on 6S 1700 is really the max for 6s anything above that and you just loose efficiency and create excess heat.

yes, you're right, everybody says that 1600kv is the max. for 6s, but the Tournigy gives it from 5s-6s.
And there's one video of testing of that motor by Jang (the guy from URC forum) the boat arrived on 63MPH they measured also the temp of ESC and the batt., all normal.
So if it can handle 6s, and that's what the guys on Turnigy says, I think that shouldn't be no extra problems.
I have the Spartan, burned ESC and collet coupler. Don't want to spend even one box more on that boat.
I'm folloving the forum about the Revolt 30, looks like everybody is satisfied with it.
As I have just the 3s batt,. must use it. I'm planning to by after winter the Rev.30 and modify it for 6s.

I don't plan on changing the motor or esc, I kept the dual pick up rudder from my Spartan when I sold it and I like the look of 2 hoses lol.

That is an edf motor and in that application it can probably handle 6s no prob. But we're talking boats here, unless u plan on doing just a few passes ie SAW type runs then the kv is too high for 6s and a boat. Water is much thicker than air. Listen to Benjamin he won't steer ya wrong.

running a higher kv than recommended is not wise. The thing of it is, if you run a 1600kv on 6S verse a 1900kv on 6S in the same boat your're going to get higher loaded rpm with the 1600kv. As you increase kv you lose torque. boat are much different than cars planes etc. I'm working on rebuilding a revolt I'll post some pics

this revolt was rebuilt using parts from 3 wrecked/broken boats one of my friends had. No maiden yet just finished it up yesterday.

It ran great handling is a bit squirley at high speeds but it's much quicker than stock. I'm using a 6 series prop off a hydro and it really needs a 4 series low lift prop ie. m445. It chine walks but no more than it did stock. still turns on a dime. Definitely need to adjust the steering rates. But for a pieced together 2 day build its awesome. I'll post some vids in the next few days if I can.

I ran the modified revolt today with a CNCd 445 and wow it ran perfect. balanced just right no more chine walking and still turns like it's on rails. I'll try to get some video this weekend.

Yeah, I'd be glad too. I'm conserdering modifying the trim tabs to extend 1/2" further, but need to try some different strut heights/angles first.
