Hi, I am currently in a similar project, although my conversion is on an Insane Gen 1 cat 40"
I am using much of the existing hardware. I have purchased the power plant: Leopard 5692/1340kv.
Esc: Etti 100amp HV, will need to sort out Bec and additional caps for this.
I am hoping it will handle up to 8s. Leopard(ebay) $145 and Etti(Hobby Depot) :$100. 2 x Turnigy 8s 40c lipos(HobbyKing): $85.
My suggestiion anyway, cheers Max.

Hi Ryan, motor will be mounted inboard, I am also interested to see how the Etti 100 will perform.
I run an Aquacraft 60amp esc with a Leopard 3660/2700kv on 4s in my Supervee 27 without any issues other than keeping it on the water and out of the air, cheers Max.

Anyone herd of any experiances with this speedy?
Etti HV 220A Opto PRO II Navy Competition Brushless ESC (10-40 Opto ???

Ryan, run one of these and 2 of the older version. All on 10 and 12s in boats around 45 inchs (sprintcat and eighth scale hydro)with large neus. 750 to 1050kv. Apart from melting a few solder joints on motor connectors, no problems. The only thing they all have is a vicious throttle curve. Takes a little care. Steve

geezzz, if i started this thread with this is what im going to put in it, no doubt id get mixed feelings, but ask for open opinion and no one wants to give it? Funny world we live in.. :)

I think people who feel your asking for the moon are just being kind and don't want to appear negative. I have owned a gas tunnel and pesently run some fairly quick FE tunnels. Getting a 32-36 inch tunnel into the 60mph range takes some serious power and just going to a HV setup is not going to cure amperage issues. For the boat your trying to push it is going to take some serious wattage. I run 40X82 size motors that pull 4000mw or about 4 watts. A 2028 or 5692 will pull more and I think you will need a serious ESC to get speeds ove 50mph.
Now to a lower? A 45 size nitro lower may work but be way off scale size. Going to a G-Morty or Gas Lawless would add weight. Not sure how much power they would rob either. The shafts may survive FE better than gas but reliability has been an issue. The size and geometry require some expensive sterring servo's and associated hardware. None of the above are a buget project. Just not a boat the will adapt easy or cheaply. Even a light large hull is going to have a lot of drag to overcome. Tunnels go fast when you fly them low.
