CG should be 27-30% of the total length for a typical mono, measured from the transom. Static float tests don't tell you much about component location.
I'm not a big fan of stinger setups, a properly set up strut gives you much more adjustability. ONce a stinger is mounted you are stuck at that depth for better or worse. Every boat I've built has benifited from being able to adjust the height of the prop. SOmetimes it takes a very small adjustment to go from a poor running boat to one that rips. Especially if you like to mess around with different props.

I have a nice stinger setup on my Toysport Triton. With it I was able to ditch the trim tabs.

Nice to see you got it together and running,:tiphat:
What size prop is on it and what motor is that and kv of it ?
It does not sound or look like it is getting on plane for you.
Can you take a couple more pictures of the setup with the cells in place and of the transom hardware,
Just trying to see where it is set at,
And help you with adjustments to make it run a lot better for you.
Also with the adjustments you may gain longer run times to for it.
It could be the CG or stinger need to be adjusted some or the prop to.

Thanks Egneg I did not see the setup at first,:tiphat:
And that the motor was 1620kv on 3s.
So setup is 120a esc motor fsd 3660 1620kv prop x637 ( on 3s. ? )
Yep, That would stop it from getting on plane.

Start with the stinger neutral ... parallel with the bottom. See how it runs - to wet raise the stinger - front bounces drop the stinger. Also a larger prop at that KV will help ... say a Prather 220.

Hi,
Yes I will try to help.
What batteries where you using in the video ?
Like egneg said to do,
And after you adjust the stinger and trim tabs and turn fins to neutral,
Just adjust the stinger up and down for testing the first time and see how it rides in the water.
Test it out, At 3/4 throttle to full throttle to see if it gets up on plane.
But run it in a straight line left about 75 foot and then to right to see how it's riding and laying on the water.

Later we will work on,
Making turn good.
It will be easier after it rides good on plane.

Hey borgie, good to see you made it to the water mate. Bonython park eh? I used to rip that pond up with a few f.e. monos and riggers years ago, back when nicads were new technology.....
Lenny and egneg's advice is spot on. If youre still not sure about your setup, try and get to mawson lakes next weekend. Doc and i will help you sort it all out. Docs boat is worth seeing too!! :-)

How in heck did Jamie's thread degenerate to the Richie&Lenny half arsed comedy show ?
haha
Dont answer that, it's a rhetorical question.

I dont need a bullseye.. there is so much width it's hard to miss ( the true talent is avoiding it, not the impact ! )

How do you make adjustments of turn fins to neutral?????

lenny
02-11-2013, 09:34 AM
One step at a time,:tiphat:
Put them up and out of the way.
And just take them out of the equation for now.

Hey Doc,:tongue_smilie:
We were just thinking of you.
Maybe some wings to fly over the wall and a 3ch parachute.:popcorn2:

borgie
02-11-2013, 05:42 PM
Will a x442 be ok with a 3s battery?

Richie the shipwright
02-11-2013, 06:05 PM
Yep should be fine. Ive got a box full of props we can try on the weekend, patience is a really big part of this hobby too!! :-) Remember what i said about ken warby?..... He didnt go out and run 400mph on his first try. Sometimes you have to slow down to go faster....

And is it Sunday because Iam busy saturdays, btw on this boat it only has 27mhz (all my other have 2.4ghz) I also might not have enough batt life because it is 3s@2600mah
