Finally finished my Fightercat Fantasm 41" and Wow, what an AWESOME HULL !!!!!!! I can't say enough about it, I mean it has excellent handling and is very efficient.......... I run 6s, 2 x 3s Turnigy Nano-techs with the Leopard 4092 1480kv, Turnigy Aquastar 240v ESC and an Octura 447/3. With that set up I hit low 60's. Thats pretty darn good for a 41" on a single setup. "Hello Kitty", props to your set up, thanks for the information!!!!!!

I also made an easy mounting/removal8762787626876288762987630 system for those that are low budget like me. I can remove the entire motor, esc, and receiver by 6 screws. Its all attached to an aluminum L bracket that is attached to the hull. I take it out and place it in my other boat, it's very convenient and simple.

Looks great!
Am I seeing Dean's plugs?

Tbauer
10-31-2012, 01:42 PM
Ya, why, do they suck? I haven't had any problems

Rumdog

For your setup... Yeah. Pretty inadequate. Go with 5.5mm bullets. Deans are only good to about 60 amps.

Did not know that, thanks for the heads up, I am a trial by error learner..... short bus.....lol

I will definitely trade up

i am thinking of purchasing the same hull, can you explan the process for painting the hull aka did you have to sand and what grit then what type of paint did you use and did you use a clear at the end? Your boat came out amazing!!!!

Unfortunately, yes :( ditch all of the deans. They are creating a bottleneck.

@Shrive81

You will love the hull, so much room, I couldn't be happier. The Hull is a 2 piece hull obviously, with the top cap hanging over the bottom slightly, so you will have to sand the top half first to be flush with the bottom half (at the seam) I used 400 for that by hand. Once I got it smooth and even I used primer over just the seam area (the portion where the 2 halves were joined) Then I sanded the whole boat with 400 grit sand paper. I painted my Genesis with the same paint, so I had some left over. It is called evening blue by PPG. It is a single stage paint so all you have to do is mix some hardener in it. They have hardener called "wet look" by Advantage. The color code is 17039, says OMNI AE on the can.

After I sprayed it and let it harden (24hrs) I used 2000 grit wet sandpaper. Then I just buffed it out. I am not a painter AT ALL, I just asked the paint dude questions and gave it a shot. The key is prep work and masking stuff off with good quality masking tape so it doesn't leak thru.

Hope that helps, good luck!!!!!

Hi, I was checking out your build, nice job, was thinking of one of these in the future, a big single build. Hows the COG of the boat, the motor seems kinda far back, is there a reason you put it that far back? Thanks Shawn.

@Love6s,

I like to keep my drive line as short as possible and the COG was less than 30%. I have it on an aluminum L bracket with several mounting holes which allows me to move it back and fourth as needed. Where it sits is where the boat road the best. I run in choppy water and need the boat to run as flat as possible with a sight lift if that makes since..... I can't say enough about it. Its wide, turns out standing and with a single motor on 6s I think the speed is very respectable..... Hope that helps :rockon2:

Im looking for a inline rudder/strut for my fantasm. Where did the one you used here come from or did you piece it together and if so what parts did you use?

Sorry for the delay Jim, was on vacation, I had to make one side of the strut bracket out of angled aluminum and I purchased the rest of the parts from

Did you finish your Fantasm single? You find the parts you needed for the inline rudder?

I love your plug and play power system and yes great for use who only have so much $$$$ to play with now a days. But I also like it because if you have a more power full system it would be easy to change out even at the pond. Fun stuff and nice planning.

Thx bro, appreciate it...... It was my first attempt, would make a couple small adjustments but other than a couple minor things (mostly personal preference stuff) it has been great....

This is the second run on the boat with a Prather 230 prop, after this video i made some adjustments and switched to a prather 235 and hit 110 kph. Still room for improving, no heat issues with anything.

That is pretty dam funny....... The color is darn near identical, mine looks lighter because I added some white to the base.

Quick question, what TX/RX are you running? I am having radio issues ever since converting to twins, totally random.

Thanks
