Which of the Aquacraft Reef Racer 2 or Hobbyzone Zig-Zag Racer 3 mini V's would be the better option for some plain ol' fun in the pool? Upgradability is the key question here... I know the Zig-Zag comes with attachments to play a version of pool-boat soccer with, which is cool.

Lol....Yes, I own lil pool boats too.
Pags, stop laughing, they are for house parties.

That being said, I have owned 3 Zig-Zags in the past, and
currently I own 3 Reef racers.
The Zig-Zags are a little faster and maybe a little flashier,
but they fail quickly when they get wet. They will quickly get
water into then. The Reef racers have a better hobby type
design with 2 hatches that seal. They still eventually get wet
inside, but will run dry quite a bit longer. As far as their design,
all the parts receiver etc. are modular like our larger boats.
They also have super long run times if you make the conversion
to run them on 2s lipo packs at 2200 mah.
Aquacraft did a good job on these boats.
I would recommend them !

Additionally you may want to water-proof the receivers by dipping
them as they will be the weak link in either boat. The main difference
here is that the Zig-Zags are built more like a toy in respect to
the provided hardware and electronics.

Have fun with them,
Hope this helped,
Ken :bounce:

Ken. Thx for the reply. Yes! I know the purists here on OSE will frown upon these little "toys", but I can't run my TC31 in my pool now, can I? What upgrade did you do for the lipo packs? New ESC's and brushless motors? Which ones?

Reef racers were fun.

Wouldnt recommend for above ground pools as the *!***!***!***!** bill fronts are sharp.

Look at Offshore Electrics part #dh-gpmm3131
It is the adapter to go to the standard Deans plug.
I think it is listed at $5.49
That is all that you need to do to convert these boats
to Lipo. The 2200's seem to fit nicely into the hatch
with some velcro added to hold them in place.
You will need a lipo charger as the supplied Reef Racer
charger is only for Nimh batteries.
I have run the boats numerous times on my Lipo's
without any problems. Remember 2s...... I think 25c / 2200 mah.
Good Luck,
Ken :bounce:

Just a note,
Pat at RClipos.com has 2s / 2100 mah 25c Hyperion Lipos in stock.
his list is $24 each.
See his part #G3-CX2100-2S
Give him a call he will take great care of you.

Just so you know a pool although not salt water is just as bad if not worse on electronics than salt water!!!! Fresh water, lakes and such have such a low concentration of ions dissociated in them that their water has very low to no conductivity. The Chlorine in pools is just like salt and conducts electricity pretty well!!!!

Shouldn't we refer to them as dancers ?

Pool boats are for the kids.....
Us adults will stick to the dancers.....lol

Let's not share all of our stories here....:bounce:

Now Terry will want to race in Florida.....hehehe
