hello

I am thinking of installing some LED in one of boat.

Can I use the 3rd channel of the Flysky GT3B as an on/off switch?

I plugged the LED in the 3rd channel of the receiver and the light is on all the time. I would like to switch the LED on and off from the transmitter. Is that possible? If yes how please?

Thanks a lot.

Cheers

JC

All your doing is sending a signal, you will still need a switch mate. This thread may help. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?31802-Diegoboy-s-145-LED-project

The + &- are just voltage, the white (orange) wire carries the signal, but you still can't use that signal to run an led, it carries a series of pulses that tell the servo what to do.
There are electric switches that plug into an RX to turn things on and off from the TX. Never used one but I know the plane guys do.

I am using one with a Flysky and it works fine. The issue you will have is you need something to make the 3rd channel a switching signal. Here (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__12615__Multi_Remote_Receiver_operated_on_off_Swi tch_.html) is what I got but think this (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8833__Turnigy_Receiver_Controlled_Switch_.html) would work better for one channel.

If you order the cheaper one let me know how it works as it was out of stock when I ordered the bigger one.

BTW here is how the one I got worked.

First you must calibrate the unit to the Rx and have power to it so it is kind of a headache there because you will have to make some custom wiring or do what I did and just power it with a 9V batt. If you run power to it without calibrating you will ruin the unit and it will be trash. There are very good instructions on the product page. I killed one by switching RX's and forgot about it :(.

Now when you get it calibrated you will have a selector switch which lets you control how the channels are activated and with my Flysky it takes a double tap of the 3rd channel to turn on one channel so if you are only running one thing you have to cycle through 4 channels min. to turn on or off the LED. so 8 clicks lol. I am running three channels so it's not so bad. :)

I have found that really FE and lighting really don't mix if you are trying to go fast as possible but it does look cool at night :).

Hi guys

The replies have been most helpful

Have just placed an order for 2 of the switches that Diego is using : ). Will be using one with my crawler also.
