Anyone here have the GT3B that uses the built in charging port?

I just bought 8x 2400mah AA low self discharge from Hobby King. Tired of going thru batts.

Now the fun part, I have no idea what to set my charger to...

2400 * 8 = 19,200 mah for capacity?

?

They supposedly come ready to use but I would like to give them a discharge/recharge to ensure they are 100% before going to the lake. My first time with charging a radio battery.

I have the gtb3 but I just buy Duracell. Lmk how the rechargeable work for you. Btw, flysky just came out with a new model that uses lipo pack. Can't remember model number tho

I heard there was a newer model.

The problem I would have with that is the lipos self discharging over time. Just another lipo to worry about.

Costco sells a 16 cell pack of eneloops for $20. Charge in an 8 cell charger once a month.

Why don't you just tell us, instead of making us ask...It was a figure of speech as its widely know that the charging port has over hearing issues and will not properly charge the battery . It seems to short out the charging port and some reports of the solder on the connections are poorly applied . In my case it burnt my dc connection on the controller . There are list of mods that can be done on these radios and really help but I havnt don't anything to my radio other than when I charge my battery I take it out and use my hobbytown charger. Here's a link with the 1st post/page with the list of mods with parts #s and price if you want to do them http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122635

, But before Id do all these mods I'd buy the futaba 2.4 FASST rx/tx that I also have that came with a boat I bought . Hope the link works its got some great info on this flysky radio

When charging NiMH tx packs I always charged at .5A and used a peak charge. The charger wont care what mah the cells can handle, it will stop forcing the charge when the charger notices that the packs voltage starts to dip. It took a long time to charge my TX packs this way.

the batteries are 2400mah series, not 19200mah parallel
you can charge at 2.4amps but better to charge these at lower settings..
like 1amp.. takes longer to charge but you will have longer lasting batteries after the charge.. :tiphat:

i have also heard negative things about using the charge port, not just on the gt3 but any tx. I would also recommend a .5-1 amp charge rate on the smaller aa size. Charged some 2250 mah nihms at 2 amps for a while, now they don't hold a charge. I run 3s lipo pack on mine, have left it on overnight and still had plenty of voltage left. Fully charged it last for several runs. Self discharge is way better on lipo then nihm, even the lsd nihms in my opinion.
