Guys I'm new to FE and I've been reading as much as I can but I have no clue what all these numbers you guys are throwing out there lol. I understand about the hulls and hardware as I'm a saw guy that's only ran gas!!! But I want to try my hand at a FE . My gas saw boats all run over 80mph , but it's getting time to try something else . As far as building a FE I'm lost . Don't know anything about the motors and all the other parts . All I can tell you is I'm detected to Rc boats !!! I love them . It's the only hobby I do . Boats and nothing but boats . I would like to build a cat and I'm not the type of guy to buy a rtr cheap pos to see if I like it lol. I already know I love Rc boats and cats . But something in a kit would be nice . My son wants a cat like his father likes ? And also I could really use some help with parts and what to buy . My goal would be a 70mph cat with a single motor if that's doable . This boat will be for my son as he doesn't like the loud and hot engines in my gas cats lol. I know 70mph is fast but I said its a goal lol. I've asked him what he wanted to do and he said he wanted and electric so your help is needed . I've seen some deals in the for same threads but I'm not sure what I'd be buying lol. Please point me in the right direction and please no artr or rtr unless there really Nice hulls . Not looking to get a traxxes lol or other rtr that need upgraded parts as soon as you get them. I can build and I like to build but maybe a cat hull with hardware and I'll add motor and esc . Thanks

This should fit the bill and will be stable to the speed you want.

I'd throw this motor(the 3.5D) in it on 6s2p:

I'm sorry but I just don't know what to buy. And using the search is great but I do t understand the FE parts . Gas is a little more user friendly as most guys know about spark and fuel lol. Thanks for your help. Also it says there out of stock on the hull. It might be a good idea for me to pay someone to build it to the point I can run it as I'm little worried I might burn it up but I'm decent at mounting hardware and stuffing tubes etc but this FE has me a little gun shy . Would this combo get in the 70s? Thanks for your time !!!!

They've been out of stock on that hull for a while...I'm not sure how much luck you will have locating one.

Well since I'm a gas guy I can always order a gas hull but I'll say the FE hull ate way cheaper . Thinking about buying FE bulls for gas lolol

Welcome to the dark side Lance..:spy:

Do you want a fun boat or heat racer?? If you want something that turns with a proven track record try the Aeromarine 40/60 Sprint Cat.

Hmm...
Good point...I assumed with the name SAW-USA, the OP was looking for a SAW boat...
The DF Explorer cat that make a wake linked is great for SAW, but not very well suited for anything else. If you want to turn ovals I would choose a different hull.
If you want a SAW cat, the DF is a good choice.

You mean like the 2 sprintcats I already have http://img.tapatalk.com/a693799d-2ace-0a97.jpglol http://img.tapatalk.com/a693799d-2b29-2d3d.jpgthis was today lol oh yeh it's got to be for saw!!! You guys are killing me with your FE . I just don't know what to buy and how to set it up. With the saw gas cats I had a good teacher but I'm lost with the FE boats . But it's going to be a project for the fall . Its got to be a cat but not another sprintcat . They work well as you can see but I like the way the FE cats look like in the link above . Love the mystic style hatch and looks !! Just want a single motor cat that will hit 70s or low 80s !! Lol uh now it's 80s lol. Guys thank you so much for your help and I'll be asking tons of questions .

Well I got to chime in here SAW. I have a Shocker hull.I am also looking into powering a gas hull with FE,but this is my twin Shocker running 60mph on 5s which it will do all day(75 on 6s).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpGMUukYunw&feature=plcp

A single will be a bit harder, you will probably will want a HV setup. I would think a Cheetah from Fightercat would be a good size for a single HV setup that will turn.

Shawn

P.S. This it what a Shocker looks like

SAW Cat did you say?? This is the only one I know of.... (see attached)

Seriously I just got back from the pond where I've been working on a few SAW projects that I will be taking to trials in the fall.

I've been very impressed with the Fightercat Hulls. Keep in mind, to go 70+ you're going to have to be turning major RPM's which is going to get your equipment hot very quickly. So if you build a SAW boat, it's going to be only a few passes and bring it in. As far as the build, I don't think you'll have any problems. I think it's probably a little less hassle than doing a gas boat. No radio box to worry about and only one servo to mount. And with battery pack placement you can easly tweak CG. The only down side is a little less room to play with.

Now that I saw your Dasboata sticker, that reminds me I have to email Chris about a prop.

It goes both ways. I started out FE and love my gas boat just as much... If it floats and goes fast, I'm in!!

If you want to go for a SAW boat, maybe you should also take one of the european designs into consideration. I can recommend the hulls from HPR, decent quality and definitely capable of high speeds but also much more expensive.

So you may at least take a look here, you'll find different hulls with parts and especially lots of pictures/setups/videos and stunning boats:
