anyone try 3s batteries?

Manual says 4s is ok, so why not run a couple 3s batteries in series.

The reason I ask is HobbyQueen "mistakenly" sent me two 3s 4000mah batteries instead of my 2s 5000mah. :bash:

Because it will blow the ESC, which is rated for 4S maximum. And it won't work with 3S either......too low a voltage to run it with the LVC set at 11.6 volts...if it even turns on.

Another great retail experience with HK, eh? Bet that low price doesn't look so great now....not trying to be an a**, I do feel your pain. :sad:

i was wondering that also. since the stock ESC fried on 4s 2nd run i now have a t120 esc in it, will that handle the 6s setup

I am planning on starting out with the recommended (stock) 2s in series setup. I don't understand why if the esc is rated for 4s or 2s we couldn't run 3s. I may just upgrade the stock esc to a 120 amp to eliminate the magic smoke coming out.

The esc is not setup for 2s, it is only setup for 4s. A pair of 2s packs in series to the esc is 4s.

That said I'm sure someone somewhere knows how to get through the menu's and lower the lvc to accommodate.

Once working 3s is going to make for a MUCH slower boat...... I don't know anyone who wants slower.

Series will increase voltage; but your mah & "c" rating remains the same. ex (4s 3000mAH 30c + 4s 3000mAH 30c = 8s 3000mAH 30c)

Parallel will increase 'run time' ie mAH. mAH doubles, "c" rating doubles as the load is spread between two packs. Voltage remains the same. 4s 3000mAH 30c || 4s 3000mAH 30c = 4s 6000mAH 60c

Think of lipo's labels if you have a hard time remembering.. lipo's are 3.7v per cell.. 2s lipo is 7.4v, 3s lipo 11.1, 4s lipo 14.8v etc etc

When you parallel them up say a 2s2p 3000mAH, it means you have a 7.4v lipo total, but there are actually 4 cells, 2 in parallel and 2 in series so the cells that are in this pack are actually 3.7v 1500mAH cells.
