I am looking for a gps to put in my boat to get top speed. What is a good model that is small enough to fit in a boat and relatively cheap? I don't really want to go the eagle tree route. (boat is a ul-1 if that changes anything)

Hobby king has one, can power by 2s or through your rx, like $70 not cheep but small and stand alone. I have one that I've been tapping to a carbon fiber hull. Working good.

Yes - I purchased one of these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/QSTARZ-SR-Q2100-10-1-Handheld-Outdoor-GPS-hikers-cyclists-and-more-/200797217104?pt=AU_Electronics_GPS&hash=item2ec0726150#ht_1057wt_1396 Yes, I live in Australia.
Has 10 different functions but I use only the distance travelled & max speed functions - you can configure in either miles or kilometers for distance & mph or km/hr for speed. Have tested it whilst driving in car alongside the car gps, Samsung Galaxy S phone & Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 & they all show the same speed. Am very happy with the unit, it's small, reliable & waterproof. Fits easily inside my Genesis & Pursuit 32. I highly recommend it.
The seller is on the Australian Ebay site & lists only selling to Australia. There are international Ebay sellers of the unit but they appears to be charging a HUGE mark up. I would be happy tohelp anyone out by purchasing the item & onforwarding to your country at purchase cost + postage. If interested, please PM me & we will get it underway :cool2:
