Well just thought I'd pop on here and introduce myself. I'm 30 years old and I've been into rc cars in all shapes and sizes for years but am new to boating and I have to say these things are a riot! I'm planning on selling some of my cars just get some more boats lol. I am applying for my NAMBA membership soon and a few of us up here are forming a boat club. Like I said I have really fallen in love with this stuff and have alot to learn. The boat I have now is the AC Motley crew and I love it! for the money I think it has been a great first boat but now I'm ready for something more. A great way for us to promote the hobby and get more people involved in our area is to really show off what these model boats can do. I know at least two other motley crews that have been sold just because the people watched mine run. Anyways what I'm getting at is I would like to build a hydro rigger just to show to the public that these arn't little toys they can be extremely fast and a ton of fun for adults and children alike so an exsibition boat if you will. Not many people up here have any exsperiece with boats so I am leaning pretty heavy on internet knowledge so if you guys could give me some advice on what I need to meet my goals that would be great.

Build goals:
Hydro rigger 65-80mph
id love to build the setup on as small a hull as possible but still be fairly stable
id love to do it on a 4s setup ( not sure if thats even close to realistic lol)

Again this boat will not have to fit into any racing class its stricktly to wow the public into getting involved in a great hobby.
Thanks guys and I look forward to your responses

Welcome aboard. The easiest way to achieve your goal is to build a JAE-21 hull. This is the smallest rigger which is really practical for speeds over 65 mph. There are numerous threads about this boat with different setups so there is plenty of experience to build on. One good setup is a Castle or Neu 1515/1Y running on 4S. This will get you well into the 60s or low 70s with the right tuning and prop, giving good reliability. You'll want at least 200 amp ESC capacity and 45C/5000 mAh packs.

I was looking at the JAE mini sprint. I would love to go as small as a 2s pack if possible but idk. That JSE -21 setup sounds like a great performer an definately alot of good people on here to help answer my newb questions. I was originally planning on just modifiying the motley crew but after reading the forums decided its probably more cost effective to build a differnt boat.
