Just purchased one of these bad boys. I have been wanting one for a while, it came down to a decision between this and the Hyperion 0730i which cost more and was less powerful. I also purchased the board to parallel charge 6 packs at once :) The charger itself was $165 not bad for 40A worth of charge power.

Will let you know how it goes once I get my hands on it :)

What kind of power supply are you going to use? Need a 24v one to take full advantage of the 40a charging.

I have a 12V 550 watt power supply which I will use to begin with, I'll bet limited to 20A charging if I have done the maths correctly. I'll be looking at one of the server style 24V power supplies in the near future.

You won't regret it, I have the PL-8 for 2 years now and charge 8 2s 5000mah batterys at once in 35 min from storage. The cell balancing out to the 3 digit is lighting fast.

Get a 24 volt min 47 amp P/S as soon as posible is make a large difference.
I bought 3 HP 115 55 amp P/S from allhdd.com 2 years ago for $43 shipped! Yes one is a spare.

I heard the balancing technique used is much faster then what most other chargers use, they essentially blast every cell then balance by discharging a cell and then blasting them all again. The PL6/PL8 uses the balance port to balance the cells whilst it charges so there isn't the delay at the end.

I have my eye on a Turnigy 1200W 200~240V Power Supply (24VDC - 50amp) its $142, shipping a server PSU to Australia costs a fair chunk of change.

Edit - Turns out I have a 13.8v~18v DC 30A power supply so its a little better then I first thought :) I look up specs when I first buy things and then never look at them again lol
