Thanks to the stinger leaking and water getting to the motor, I'm redoing it. Gutted the hull and reinforced the bottom with a layer of CF:

nice work good to see someone take this boat to its true potential as i have one myself and just replaced a few things and running a flex drive that i had lying around would like to run a 3/16 stinger or strut good luck with it all

Thanks, waiting for my parts to come in now. Went with a adjustable stinger with 4mm flex shaft and stand off rudder. Still keeping it a low budget fun boat, going to run a 380 can but with 2200KV instead of the stock 1900KV with 2 2S batteries in series and reusing the stock ESC.

The motor mount is adjustable up to a 540 can so later on if I want to get a little crazy I can.

No worries by the sounds of it sounds like a good plan just wondering could you please send a link to the drive components you used because i have no idea and i would also like to keep it a low budget fun boat and also the motor if possible it would be greatly appreciated cant wait to see how it all works out.

But i may change the esc to a T-120 amp coz im not to sure if the stock esc can handle 4s and also run 2 2s in series that way i will have already have the esc when i change to a 540 outrunner.

But i may buy a swordfish 200 for my cat so i can use the T-180 thats currently in there it would also sove my clearance problem in my cat.

Probably overkill in the outlaw but id rather be safe than sorry

two 2s batteries in series is the same as two 4s in parallel.

Link to the stinger with flex cable:
http://www.horracing.com/product_info.php?products_id=318

The reason Im using the 2S lipos is I will be using the stock 30amp ESC so I need to keep the amps down.

thanks for the link and yes it would be the same either way its 4s and the esc is 40amp.

You could run 4s on the stock esc as long as you prop down not sure on what size prop to run.

But thats why im getting a larger esc for absoute reliability spending money on a larger esc once is better than constantly replacing smaller esc's and that hardware looks good for $30

Still waiting on my stinger and motor mount but managed to put in a transom doubler and install the rudder. Need to fill the hole from the original equipment. Just got a deal on a Leopard 4074 2150kv, may rethink putting in the 28mm motor I had bought for it :D

Hello kilr95ss,

Have you chosen any adjustable tabs? If so can you post a link?

Thanks

hi gyro decided to just throw the stock motor back in etc as i end up buying a custom painted 36 inch mono and keeping the outlaw for when my son gets a bit bigger that way he will have something to start of with and just tidy it up a bit

gyrotron,
Sorry for not responding, got the flex drive and stinger in finally. Here's the link for the 4mm to 3/16" prop adapter:http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ose-1030

The shots were taken by a fellow photog, he paddled out into the middle of the pond and took the shots from low in the john boat.

Pics of the flex, stinger and motor mount. If it would stay in the water, I'd put the 4074 in there :rockon2:

Nice parts selection man. That things is going to fly like a real Outlaw. P.S.: How did you remove the epoxy and plastic part holding the stock motor? Is there a good link to a tutorial where I can learn how to lay and manipulate carbon fiber?

The majority of the radio box/ motor mount plate pulled right up, the pieces left, I used a dremel with a cut off wheel and carefully ground them away. Here's a pretty good link on laying carbon fiber: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAdVO8Rkv6c

Since this has turned into a build, I have started this thread in the detailed boat build forum: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?36813-TT-Outlaw-Jr.-OBL-We-Can-Build-It-Faster-Stronger&p=447431&posted=1#post447431
