I just finished my mean machine build here are the specs.

Leo 4082 1600KV, SK180 ESC, 6S, 2 x 5300 Mah, 3s 65C Gen Ace packs in series, running an M445 with the bottom of the strut 3/16" up from the sponson bottom.

Running this setup my batterey temps are getting pretty hot, 130 to 135deg, motor and speed control are not bad, 100 and 105deg. The speed is great 56-58mph but the motor does seam to be screaming pretty good. Is it possible that I am over revving the motor and causing the heat with the batteries?? I have an M447 but havent tried it yet considering I am already getting hot. Any thoughts or suggestions on this set up would be great.

Thanks

Your getting towards the higher end w/ unloaded rpms and that motor can be amp hungry. Try a 2p setup or try running 5s. Are those soft or hard packs? Hardpacks normally run a lot hotter in boats. If they're hard, just going to soft may make a lot of difference.

Thanks for the reply diesel. They are soft packs.

well the only packs I have are 3s so going to 5s is not an option right now. Wondering if propping down would help. I have a 442, 440/3blade, and a 443. Would these props be too small for this set up?

Those aren't too small. I run m440 on mine.

Raise the strut more. Get as close to1/2" up from the sponson bottoms as you can. You'll notice a big handling difference as well as less heat.

rum's right, I have a MM and have had a castle 1515 2200kv and a leo 4082 in it and until I listened to ruim it was running like a dog, I raised the strut and the performance improved ten fold, turns well and very stable. Now I just have to re bend a stuffing tube to suit the angle of the joint into the strut so it meshed better and the boats a barrel of laughs again.

Ya i would have to do some serious work to get the strut up that high, 1/4 would be easier. Iam going to prop it down for sundays run and see how it go's. I will have to do some more grinding on the strut to get the 1/4" out of it.

got the strut up 1/4" and ran the 442. Boat ran great, very stable and my temps where down also. Speed was 54mph and very fun to drive.

I am still fighting with mine. I am running 6S 5300 180seaking leopard 4092 1473 and a X646 temps were all right at 100 but the speed was only 45. I have the strut up 3/16 maybe it’s not enough? it is also slipping out in the turns. CG is right at 10 inches.

I am using the cnc 443, strut at 1/4" and CG at about 9.5inches from transom. Been running consistant gps runs of 55 MPH and heat about 110 on a hot summer day. You might want to prop down a bit, maybe a 642 or an M445 or raise the strut up to 1/4". The M445 runs fast on my set up right around 60 but heat is a little to high for my liking. What KV is your 4092.

Id definately try the M445 I could hardly run a 442 with my strut at 3/16ths.
