View Full Version : Help with supervee bushing on propshaft.

Hi, I am having trouble trying to figure out how to assemble the bushing on the prop shaft. I bought the Supervee 27r strut mount, the brass bushing it says is needed and prop shaft, but the bushing wont fit on the prop shaft. Is the bushing supposed to just slide on or do I have to force it on?

Bushing should just slide into strut and prop shaft should slide freely in.

Reviving this thread as i have same problem/question,why is my bushing loose inside the strut?..it just slides up and down. Isn`t the bushing suppose to stay fixed inside the strut with no movement at all?.....Help!!

what is the distance gap to leave between the back of the shaft bushing and the front of the drive dog? on the SV27 manual does not tell you and on the SV27R manual it tell you to leave 4-5mm distance between the back of the strut and the front of the drive dog.

4-5 mm is good sorry, my question is a little confusing. 4-5mm from back of the strut to the front of the drive dog or 4-5mm from the back of the shaft bushing to the front of the drive dog? cause the drive bushing sticks out of the strut about 2-3mm

I'm use a .150 set up.

Here is picture. As it show the bushing collar is about 2-3mm does the distance of my drive dog looks good?

That looks like it needs to be tapped back in to the stinger flush with it,
And spacing is the width of the flex shaft.

Yes,just take some fine(1000 grit) sanding paper and work your way around the whole bushing evenly.Try it and see if you like how it rotates,if still a little rough then sand lightly again.

That's way too far out.Try taping the bushing back flush with the stinger,Then leave about 2-3mm between bushing end and drive dog.Why the gap?..cause when you rev up the motor the flex tends to push inward the stuffing tube creating tension in the whole system.So this 2-3mm gap compensates the flex tension.Try it when the boat is on a stand and youll see what im talking about.Hope this helps...

I had my boat running for as little as 30 seconds when my new flexshaft snapped off with my new sharpened and polished prop and spinner...

It appears to have snapped right at the solder point. I have been trying to wrap my head around as to why this happened? Do I need to adjust something?

Seems like it wasnt glued/put together the right way.Sorry you lost your prop and spinner.You can still go buy a new propshaft and put it together yourself.Check this OSE tutorial on how to do it right;http://offshoreelectrics.com/info-pages/assemble-shaft.php.Good luck and let us know how it came out!!
