No idea if these are any good but HK has released a 3 channel Orange surface rx for Spektrum radios for 20$.
Might give one a go in a new low speed rescue boat I'm working on.
Anybody try any of the air models they have?
Not waterproof but thats easy to fix.
135mm antennae so you can get it above the boat a little bit at least.

I use the orange air rx's a lot. A 6ch is $6, I have maybe 5 or 6 of them I also have a 9ch. All in all I really like them, I use them in "less expensive" planes just in case something shall happen. I will use one in my 450 heli build though. Glad to see a surface orange on the market. I wouldn't hesitate to use in my sc10, not sure about boating though (more money involved). Really nice though!!!

That was my thought as well, hence the idea for the rescue boat.

I just read it had a failsafe which is awesome. The 6ch orange air doesn't have one (at least I don't think), but the 9ch does. Would be perfect for a rescue rig. The range (with the 6ch & 9ch) is really good, I haven't ran into any range issues (knock on wood). I use the satillite extender in one plane that I fly rather high, but honestly my other ones (w/o the extender) get awesome range. I would def try it out and waterproof it.
