WOW! What is that, 48-50" long? Looks like a pair of 5692's too?

Great lookin' ride there!

It's 51" hull running twin 5692 540KV.
Actually, it was a result from following numbers of your inspiring posts here.

Still under tuning though...

Only several runs so far. It was running quite wet though. I guess because of two sets of 12s 5000mAh. Total weight was 35lbs. Top speed around 53mph(gps) but the amp drawn was reasonable (90amp peak - each). Going to try with 4000mAh this weekend and play around with COG and struts angle. Any advice is very welcome... :welcome:

Woah! Must be running wet at only 53 mph.............your cog should be around 28-30% from transom, stingers should be neutral or even a tad positive. What props? Surely you can spin a couple of x457-x460's.

That is a sweet looking boat. I'm thinking of getting one of these next. Now that I have seen the room inside.

Wow! I considered one of these but went for another 46" mono going to be running a single 5692 on 12s, make sure you post some vids!

Is it wooden inside? I can't see any fiberglass

All fiberglass. The rail is made of epoxy. The only wooden part is transom reinforced.

Thanks Make-a-Wake. Will try this weekend. The props used are pair of x665. Is it too big? I think for twin, choices are very limited. :confused2:

For the 46", you may want to consider this...

Not mine though. This one runs with twin 5698. I think twin mono setup may not be as speedy as expected (or may be just on my setup). However, the run time is very very good.

Hi guys,

Just to update... after following suggestions and play around with strut angle, cog, reducing lopo weight, and switching prop direction, the boat no longer running wet now. Actually...even need to adjust the trim tab to get the nose down. Most important change was switching prop direction from outward turning to inward turning. This make the whole boat lifted from water (especially the nose) and gain more speed. Thanks to folks on the Prop Talk forum for pointing this out... http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?34453-Counter-Rotating-Props-Direction-for-Offshore

The amp drawn is higher now but considering size and weight of the boat comparing to speed (61 mph... 98.3 kph), I think for me it's good enough to celebrate... :beerchug:

Beautiful!

I have considered doing one of these multiple times but never pulled the trigger.
Yours looks great. The height of the prop relative to the bottom of the hull caught my attention, but I guess it must work well?
I've never done a twin mono so I've never had the chance to see how well that works. Sounds like you have it figured out though.
Take some video if you can...nothing cooling than a big mono IMO!

Hi,

Thanks for the complement. Yes, the stingers position are quite high relative to the bottom but there wasn't much of a choice due to shallow V shape and I'm trying to keep 2 props stay away from each other.
This make the boat ran quite wet initially, especially with outward turning prop setup. So I moved the batt to the back to keep cog at around 25% from transom. And with inward turning setup, it ran quite well now. The boat transom is still not totally lifted (only up to prop position) but it ran quite nicely with nose up and only some small area of transom in the water. :rockon2:

Will try to take some vid but need to look for a cameraman first.

Ok... update for this week. Just ran the boat today with some vid (badly) taken. I'm still having no luck on cameraman. Also don't want to hold the camera myself during run. So... here is the best I can do... a kind of fly-by video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA42DHhbem8

Top speed is still consistent (98.3kph = 61mph). However, as I try to lower the nose lifted by lowering down the stinger angle and trim tab, the boat is now porpoising. Anyone know how should I fix this porpoising problem? Should I lowering down the trim tab and stinger? Or should I move CoG a little forward? Any advice/recommendation would be very appreciated. Note that the stinger angle is still about 2-3degree positive and the trim tab is about +5 degree...

The boat still ran a little wet but a lot improved comparing to previous outward turning setup. Here is the vid of her maiden run. Top speed was around 85kph(~53mph). Please don't mind the spoken language...It's my native tongue.

Whoa, really running well now!! Did you move your COG back?? You may wanna try one run with the props reversed

Hi, Thanks. The boat ran better now with inward turning props setup. I also move CG toward the back as much as I could, :)
