im running a bby racing ovalmaster 26 with a m tronics brushless motor and esc rated at 12 cells . but when i run my 12 cell 3800 mah batts it fry the connections do i need use deans or whats the deal ? it happens with my graupner b-24 with a sv 27 brushless motor esc combo and the same thing the connections are real flimsy !! any advice or picks of their battery setups would be appreciated !! thanx:D

YES use deans...the tamiya connectors will not hold up in boats. female deans on the batteries and male on the esc. The positive goes to the upright plug.

Deans are great, but almost anything is better than those stupid , white Tamiya (Spelling???) connectors:mad: . They are junk , you will probably notice a performance improvement with the Deans as well.

no im talking between cells im burning the connections between cells like when you run a series in a pack my packs are getting so hot its burning them intwo between battery connections !!!! and melting the plastic around each cell !!! do you think its the cells grounding if they out or am i running to much power ?

Sounds like you have excessive amp draw. Check the driveline for friction. The packs may just now be up to your app.

What cells do you have, who is the pack Manufacturer?

My brain just woke up on this subject...My SH kept doing the same thing. The culprit..Tenergy 3300 packs with the thin tabs. I broke the packs down and rebuilt them with deans bars..problem solved.

The thin connector between the cells gets red hot and sometimes burns. If you rebuild them it will be better but still no where near the quality of a good built IB3600. The cell your talking about work decent in some less amp drawing things. I ran them in my buggy, they last long and have decent punch but in the boat I burn them right up. The 4500 packs are better but its tought to get 4500 in the cell the most I can get is 3800.

thats what i thought i have some deans bars connectors coming !! gonna have to rebuild them all !!!!!!! doby they are tenergy 3800 mah nickel hydride .............they said they were for high drain app . but they installed cheap connectors fried a few cells but maybe can salvage most!! thanks sjfe !!!

if u have never built your own packs read this first. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/info-pages/sidebyside-packs.php intellect makes the ib3600 way better than the cheap ebay cells. if i was u try to sell them and buy some good cells. even some gp3300 would be better than those. if u go cheap on the bats u will pay in the long run.

Jcarlton, you want me to be honest with you. I did exactly what you think will work. It dont work. Like I said the packs are good for less amp draw thing but not the boat. If you put the pack on a 35 amp draw the voltage drops into the mid 6's that means your not even getting 14 to the esc. Trust me on this dont waste any more money go get IB3600's from steve at Battlepack. You dont need matched there about 37 bucks built the best way they can be built. Just so you know I am telling the truth here is a picture... I will sell you both packs for 20 bucks if you dont believe me.. you pay shipping

J go to the tips & info section. There is instructions on building packs. www.battlepack.com for the IB3600s. Be sure and heat the work first then add solder.

I was just telling you I did the same thing. Then I said OK let me buy these IB3600 pack from this Robot guy. Turns out, he makes some of the best packs anywere. One call to him and you will understand why you need to get the IB3600 pack built flat. Here is a lousy/blurry picture of the packs I got from steve. Mine are matched. I would never sell them. I actually wont even sell the tenergys, reason is my time/the bars/the wire/the connectors are more then 10 bucks... plus I just bought a tug boat that they will work in. Agian the tenergys will work fine in less amp draw situations.

Also, use high quality 12 gauge wire. Any thing you can do to lower the overall resistance. Your on the right track with the Deans products though. Expensive but very good quality.

Just ran a Tenergy 3800 in the TUG boat. In fairness to Tenergy, the pack worked great. I ran the tug for over a half hour and had to stop. Still had more to go. So although the 3800's cant stand up to the demanding draw of the SV it does work beutiful in less demanding stuff.
