So I finally took my Impulse 31 out on the water today. Probably should have avoided going out on the river though as there was a lot of debris and the water was medium chop. I installed a M445 prop sharpened by Chris from Dasboata.com and it preformed great.

The boat ran perfect and all the necessary look over’s and water proofing of the boat paid off. I also swapped out the water cooling tubing with some ¼ air hose tubing that had a larger inside diameter for better cooling. I did not have a single drop of water inside the boat. After reading all the complaints on here I was a bit scared to run it. I did have to caulk around the rear shaft tube where the flex tube goes into the rear transom of the boat as it looked like there was a small hair line crack around it. I also noticed some small holes on the opening for the hatch and caulked those up as well.

My only mishap was when the boat encountered a floating stick. I saw it at the last second but I was not quick enough to avoid it. It sheared off the small shear pin screw like it was intended. Price I paid for running on the old Mississippi. No other damage was done.
Over all I am quite please with how it ran and can’t wait to go out again…

I love this boat, what did you replace the shear bolt with? I have been useing different things like a nylon bolt, push in xmas trees or some call them auto door panel fasteners, and also I am going to try some brass bolts
but I think I like the first two the best, I don't want anything to strong and not sure on the brass bolts.
I like the shot of you catching some air.
you might want to switch with some 5.5 bullet connectors.

Thanks guy's! It was fun and I am going to a lake next time to see how the set-up is on it the way it is now. It was hard to tell how it was handling because of the chop. It doesn't look bad in the pictures but was not the best conditions...

As for the shear bolt? I have not replaced it yet. It pretty much ended my day. Next time I will have a spare with me. The manual calls for M3x10mm phillips head screw so I need to head back to the Hobby store and pick up some extras...I will have to look into the nylon bolt idea too.

As for the 5.5mm bullet connectors I'm going to replace them soon. My batteries were not really that hot and the ESC and motor seemed good too. I will bring my temp gun for the next outing. Those wires on the ESC and Motor are so thin. It surprised me the first time I opened the box...
