So I finally took my Impulse 31 out on the water today. Probably should have avoided going out on the river though as there was a lot of debris and the water was medium chop. I installed a M445 prop sharpened by Chris from Dasboata.com and it preformed great.
The boat ran perfect and all the necessary look over’s and water proofing of the boat paid off. I also swapped out the water cooling tubing with some ¼ air hose tubing that had a larger inside diameter for better cooling. I did not have a single drop of water inside the boat. After reading all the complaints on here I was a bit scared to run it. I did have to caulk around the rear shaft tube where the flex tube goes into the rear transom of the boat as it looked like there was a small hair line crack around it. I also noticed some small holes on the opening for the hatch and caulked those up as well.
My only mishap was when the boat encountered a floating stick. I saw it at the last second but I was not quick enough to avoid it. It sheared off the small shear pin screw like it was intended. Price I paid for running on the old Mississippi. No other damage was done.
Over all I am quite please with how it ran and can’t wait to go out again…
