Hello,

I just wanted to share the start of my MMP Rapid fom RocketCity, very good seller by the way :) ... It will be my first build.

The hardware is :
- MHZ mini rudder
- speedmaster stinger 3/16
- and of course all the small parts.

For the setup :
- Seaking 180
- Leopard 4082 1600kv
- 6S
- x642

Any help will be appreciated

Nice looking hull!

How did you come up with the Setup?

It looks to me you end up with low rpm.
3S x 3.7Volt = 11,1 Volt
11,1 Volt x 1600Kv = 17760 Rpm

I think you would like to have around 30.000Rpm so then you need 5S

i was going to put a 5682 in mine but its waay to big, need a 4082 nows!

No, 2x3S serial = 22,2V , around 35000rpm unload, This is the right setup for the Rapid/Racemaster

A serial, I thouhgt it was going to be parallel. If its serial it should be ok and hauling!

Talking about motors, the FEIGAO 580L/8 1649kV and the Castle Creations 1717 1580kV are very cool for the Rapid

Serial is something you eat for breakfast. Series is double the voltage.

The Feigao 580's are trash. Don't try one.

Care to explain why? It just so happens I have an L6 I'm about to try in a new build. A motor I bought here quite a while back when Steven, and others touted them.
Are there better motors, OF COARSE! but why the hate?? And before you answer, yes I did upgrade the bearings.

I wouldnt spend the $$ on a 580L either, i had one once, it was decent but its a 2 poler that runs a bit warm.................I imagine the bearings are a bit behind newer ones too, plus the whole market of 4 polers are not that expensive.

PF3X, i just finished a Racemaster, went with a 1717 on 6s runs well and doesnt heat up much. I use a swordfish 200a ESC, I think they are better than T180's which tend to go into premature LVC.

They were junk motors. That's why the hate. I smoked one on it's second run. Got a replacement. That one smoked also. That is the reason OSE doesn't carry them any longer. They were crappy motors.
Try it all you want, but be wary. It can take out you esc as well when it smokes.

I saw you thread on the french forum ... I'm also French ;)
I got the T180 for free, so I don't mind.

Ok then today, I was really busy, I just drillet the holes for all the hardwares.

Maybe tomorrow I will start the inside.

She's done :)

I putted silicone glue on all the hardware to prevent from water issues ... hope it will be good.

We don't have any lake here, so I play the most of the time on the ocean, could you please give me some advices for the maintenance of the boat ?

Looks real good constantly maintain flex and flush out cooling system with fresh water and won't hurt so spray hardware with wd-40 every so often just a good soaking with hose water will be fine wash flex down real good and soak with a oil before storing out of all my boats I only have one boat that I been running in salt water for years and it looks like new and all I do to it are the few simple steps above I know someone that does the same thing to his gas boat and has no problems as well
JUST DON'T GET WATER INSIDE THE HULL THEN YOUR ELECTRONICS WILL HAVE A BIG PROBLEM I WOULD PRESSURE TEST THE COOLING SYSTEM TO CHECK FOR LEAKS BEFORE INITIAL RUN AND EVERY OTHER RUN FROM THEN ON

Thanks chris :)

How I can test the cooling system ???? I putted water in my mouth, and I blew into the hose ... looool

iamandrew

you can test your cooling system simply by getting a hose and shooting the water at your water pickup in your rudder.
Defiantly do this!! and see if water ends up coming out of your exit.
I found in one of my boats, i was getting a lot of water in it, which was coming through the bulkhead fitting, i used a cable tie to hold the cooling tube onto the fitting, but it was too big, so when it was pulled tight, it didnt form a O, but a 0

Chrisg81983

Just take a pump of some kind then hook up the tube that would go onto the rudder pickup exit and pump water see how it flows then I do a pressure test with by plugging off the exit and pump some water through the same way but just for a few seconds at a time if you see no internal leaks you are good you will be surprised how much water pressure goes throughout the system If a pump is not available yu can always do a mouth and finger test by putting your finger over the exit tube then sucking on the inlet tube after you have a good vacume place young over the hole and sit for a minuet if young stays stuck to tube you r ok

thanks guys for the advices :)

I made the maiden today, everything was dry :Peace_Sign:

I tested it in 4S, the boat is really stable, looks great on water, runned almost 7 minutes and everything was cold

Next time I will make a video with 6S :)

Guys I actually use a x642 s/b, do you think it's good with my setup ? Or which one will be better ?
