I got a little distracted, I decided to play golf again after a couple years off and this time I'm either smarter, weirder or just lazier, here's what I posted over on losiforum.com
The first prototype ran hard for over 4 hours and the batteries still had a little left in them, temps stayed fine(until I got home from golf and was showing off doing full throttle take off's lol, wheelies and crazy take off into an uncontrolable wobbling mess lol.) This set up is heavy, I'd say 25-30kg's and I was suppose to tee off at 8.33am, I was still in the shed at that time rushing around finishing and missed my game but I went down anyway.
On the first take off I noticed the golf buggy getting speed wobbles at around 3-5kph, not a good start. The harness I made has too many ball joint's that allow too much free movement between the buggy and the truck and drive like a snake, this caused the buggy to "jackknife" when speed wobbling. To try correcting this I used cable tie's to retain the balljoint's from having too much movement and I gain a few's kph's stability but still a slow walking pace only before going that little bit too fast and getting the wobble's. I ran out of time to re-gear the transmission so poor monsty dragged this thing for about 10-12 kilometer's running the FOC/swap mod 26t/19t bevel in the tranny and I couldn't get a good mesh with my 16t pinion and couldn't find my 17t so I ran an 18t pinion with a 66t spur, let's just say, if someone pissed me off, I could flick dirt and shet all over them in a pull of the trigger lol. I assisted monsty up a few of the hill's and had to lightly hold the rear of the buggy to stablize the wobble but I played 16 holes (took 4 hours with buggy adjustments) and I'd had enough and decided to drive the buggy home for the day before I'd have to change lipo's but as said earlier, even after showing of to a few residents and friends on the way home and getting the temp's up on the electronic's, the pack's still had I guess another 1/2 hour's driving in them. I used 4x Nano Tech 4s 5000mAh 45-90c lipo's connected parallel to form a 20000mAh pack, see pic's below for my battery box, my proto2 will be an aluminium poker chip case that I'll line with a lipo safe bag, I'd hate for a tragedy to take out both my truck and club's!!
I set up my eagletree system to record the golf coarse coordinantes, electronic temps and pack info and I'm also hoping to be able to use the gps to calculate my club shot distance by parking behind me in line with the ball and then driving the buggy in line with where the balle ends up and the power panel will display the last travelled distance (distance to operator), this should help with my club selection. I've also installed a cheap waterproof action video camera onto the buggy handle so it'll record my game, if I play a really bad shot (or good one) I'll just record the time as a reference and look over the footage to see what I'm doing right or wrong, this should help my swing!!
While building the harness I played around with a few options and I now believe the set up I had before I got more ball ends should travel more stable so I'll spend today in the shed and when it's perfect, I'll turn the video camera around so you guy's can see the work out these truck's can handle, no sweat!!
here's a graph chart of a sample taken from the golf course recorded on the XL2.
