Greetings All!

I'm considering going brushless with my Mini V and could use a bit of advice.

Currently I'm running a Graupner 480 BB Race motor with .098 flex cable and Octura x427 prop. The battery is stock. RPM is claimed by the manufacturer to be 27,000 RPM under no load.

I know that I could get quite a bit more speed by going with li/po batteries, but I've been toying with the idea of changing to brushless.

My question is this: If I run a 2200 kV brushless motor with 3s li/pos (11.1 V), which, I assume, would give me 24,420 RPM, would there be enough additional power to make up the difference with more prop?

The reason I mention the 2200 kV brushless motor is that it would be a very good fit in size, weight and shaft dia. I could "drop it in". The motor I'm speaking of is the Electrifly Ammo 28-35-2200.

Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dave.

I don't know the answer to your question but I put a 2600kv with a 2s and 30mm prop and it wanted to flip over if I gave it much throttle.

Thanks MikeV.
Someone else told me that they had put a brushless setup in the MiniV and the boat spent more time upside down than rightside up. I can't help but wonder if it's not just a matter of proper configuration/setup. I figure lots of people have done this. Opinions anyone?
Thanks, Dave.

I run a brushless mini-v with an upgraded flex wire drive, turn fins, and trim tabs. Right now it has a Neu 1105/3y and Quark33Pro ESC on 8.4volts. It rips pretty well, and the hull seems to handle the abuse just fine. Much easier to get up on a plane with brushless. :bounce:

No pictures post brushless, but it still looks similar to this...
