Not to be confused with unobtainium.

What are you using it for? It won't go around curves or form the way carbon fiber or fiberglass does.

Keith, have you used this stuff? I didn't even open the box yet. I didn't buy much of it so if it wont work I'm not out much. I bought 3k thinking in my head 3oz which it clearly isn't. It's 8oz.

I was planning to lay up my tub with it as the first layer. Glear gel then this stuff then a couple layers of S glass. Might be an epic fail. At least I'll still have the mold so no disaster.

I doubt I could have stuffed 8oz glass into a 90 degree bend on a rigger. I'll have to hover over this one waiting for the kick. Maybe a massive fillet of epoxy and milled fiber before I lay this in. Might not look to grand after that though.

I was thinking the same thing too Terry... 8oz is going to be a pain to work with...

Yeah I think I blew it when I ordered it.

Two words: Vacuum Bag!

8oz 2x2 will conform with pressure. I use 10oz all the time in rigger molds.

I only bought a couple yards. This stuff is crazy beautiful to look at.

Brian, I'll check in with ya when I get closer. Haven't even got the duratec on the plug yet. I was hoping to not bag because my pump froze up. Maybe it's time to sniper one of ebay again. The last one I bought pulled 29" hg and stole it for $41. DOH! Lasted about 5 years.

Is that the "alumized cloth" I was reading about ?? Maybe that is why it is so stiff?

i have used it my self and it is stiff..however the edges do not break apart like carbon fiber does when you are laying it in the hull so that i one good thing about it..but it is hard to get it into the contours of a hull also.

Bagging probably is my only chance of getting it down in the corners and such. This tub is sleek and sexy but it still has that 90 degree turn to make at the bottom of the tub. I've always wanted to own all the equipment to do glass properly. Need a cheap dump gun too. Brushing gel just doesn't feel right.

I'm not sure if that's aluminum. It's almost too shiney to just be aluminum. Plus they have other colors. Not sure how they do it exactly. The finished product looks like fish scales almost. Hope I can get it to work. If it doesn't I'm going to try some chromaveil.

I didn't check. Wonder if you can actually bend this stuff like aluminum and have it hold it's shape. hmmmm I'll let ya know.

Hey Brian, did you round off the bottom edge on the Raptors when you made those molds?

There's a small radius on the sides. The edges on the transom are sharp.

I have a small radius at the top but not at the bottom. I'll stew on that a bit. My transom is only 1/4" tall so that shouldn't be bad in a bag.
