"Budget" means different things to different people, so your request is not easy to fill. Giving us and actual budget $$$ amount would have been much more helpful ($250, $400, ???), but here goes....

I don't know what hull that is, but if it is a decent design:

Ideal motor: Neu 1527/1Y
Budget motor: Leopard 4092/1300
Ideal ESC: Castle Hydra ICE240
Budget ESC: ?
Ideal packs: Hyperion or ThunderPower 45C/5000mAh 6S2P
Budget packs: ?
Props: s448, x450, x452
Ideal Setup Speeds: 65-70 mph
Budget Setup Speeds: 50-55 mph

Tommy,
If you're going to bring it down to the FE Nats make sure it meets the 65% transom rule. Can't run my 1/8 scale in T sport for this reason.

Power wise on the relative cheap would be a scorpion HK-4025-1100 and a Seaking 180. There may be similar motors out there that are cheaper, but I have no experience with them. Batteries, you get what you pay for. I haven't been terribly impressed with the life span or performance of the run of the mill budget cells. Of the cheap cells, people up here are having reasonable luck with the GensAce packs.

If you were going to spend more, Jay pointed out one of the best combos.

Thanks. I know i didn't post a $ amount and that makes it hard to come up with but you've got me thinking about the setups now. I may go with the ideal set up if i can afford it before the nats or i may just save up and wait and not go to the nats idk yet.

Brian, the boats legal. Its % ends up being .65789474 and thats not going with the exact percise mesuring tools lol. The boats light. We bought it back when sport 40 1 was still popular in our district and we were gonna build it as one but then the class died so when never drilled it.

Haha very funny larry. I know its going to have bright yellow scallops on the front of the boat plus its going to have either jegs for the "sponsor" or Rockstar lol.
