This is what happened after being on the water for 10mins or so...Boat was going real well until i lost all power and a puff of smoke then an explosion and a fire.
The explosion blew the lid off and also cracked the hull a lot!....haha it was heaps of fun and im still smiling and looking forward to starting a full rebuild...

I suppose if you can't laugh, what can you do. Glad you didn't loose the boat though

Yeah....................what was the complete setup..............motor, kv, prop etc................?

10 mins including a few stops to check temps etc could have been less who knows.
KB45-10XL 1200kv
Cant remember pitch but was a 40mm Aluminium prop
2x Nanotech 4000mah 3s

On my next set up after i have sanded the hull back and reglassed and painted I want to run a single Leopard 4082 1600kv with two nanotech 5000mah 3s in series. Do you think its worth buying the Turnigy AquaStar Monster 240A esc
or just stick with the T180 and keep an eye on temps??

Issue was your setup! Your kb motor is very VERY inefficient and is a pure amp hog, add that with the less the adequate nano-techs in a 1p setup with only 4000mah and the esc got caught in the middle. The motor pulled more amps then the batteries could deliver and the esc got caught in the middle of a power struggle. Your setup needs a lot of work! JMHO

haha yes i know. This was setup from 4 other different projects and was very rough as you can see from the silicon chucked on the front of the hull lol.
I still really like the hull and want to rebuild it. Can you tell me what you think of this setup..
4082 1600kv with 4070 Jacket.
Two nanotech 5000mah 3s
Two extra cooling circuits
I think the T180 will be OK but im really not 100% sure. What do you think?

The only way that would work is if you run a very small prop. I honestly think you need a 2p setup! When you start getting into the larger size motors they can produce a lot of wattage and a 2p setup is the best way to supply the motor with the amps in needs. Yes the Leopard is 1000x more effcient then the KB is, but she can pull some amps! No esc will work if you don't give the motor juice she's looking for! Jmho

I like it fine......................do yourself a favor anf ditch the Nano's...................lots of bad reviews. The Zippy/flightmax 40c's are much better.
If you are going to run 1p then you need 40c and 5000mah minimum to feed that motor.

Ok thanks guys will look into the Flightmax lipos. I really just dont like the weight of a 2p set up but maybe ill switch haha. Maybe ill set this system up again as is and watch another explosion it was awesome haha just jokes :). Thanks again for the advice :)

Extra weight isn't always a bad thing!

Go with a redbull paint job like on the F1 cars. If you don't know what I mean have a look at this
http://worldtuningfans.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Red-Bull-Racing-RB8-2012-F1-Car-1.jpg deep purple with lots of redbulls!

Red Bull looks nice. Does anyone know where you can buy sticker or decal sets from? Not just for the Reb Bull one but all different kinds? Or is it a case of just getting your own custom made?

I agree 100%.This motor is a esc killer.Give a try to Turnigy T600 outrunner. For the money it is AWESOME motor with a lot off power and efficient.

So ive spent the last week reinforcing the hull with carbon fiber and i should be ready for paint early this week. Ive decided to go dual prop and i have two 110mm stringers and flex drives on the way. Also two 200a speed controllers and two 4074 2000kv Leopard motors :) Should start to all come together in the next two weeks :) Also i have PMd monojeff for custom decals but have no reply as of yet.
