Is this too much prop for my boat

Hi guy's, I have an octura x645 from my brushed rc boat days and I am curious to know will it let the magic smoke out of my speedy if I give it a whirl. I have a 32" cat running on 4s, swordfish 200a speedy and a leopard 3665 2100 kv motor. Hope thats all the info you need. Any advice will be taken onboard as all the info i have got off this site and the people who seem to live on here(like me) have saved me money and nothing has burnt out yet. What prop are you running rite now and what are your temps and how many amps are you pulling rite now with current prop

x645 is too much prop for that motor IMHO. A x440, x442, grim 42x55, prather 215, x642 would be better suited. You may even be able to try a m445 or a prather 220. I would start small and work my way up. That x645 though will end up letting the smoke out of something.

That's what I was getting at I have a similar setup in a 30 inch cat that I built for my nephew and the grim 42/55 and an m445 are about it try the props that diesel recommended they should be within the safe sone just watch temps closely I ran the 645 a few times it will work with my setup but cuts it a little close especially now that we are going into the summer months

Sorry diego, my bad. Thanks for the input guy's. I am running a 40mm 3 blade prop at the moment, i am not sure on the exact specs as I cant see the print on it like the octura prop. Temp's are nice and cool, I can touch everything and only warm, not sure on amp draw though. I will buy some of the props suggested by diesel and go from there. Start small and work up. Cheers Gus

Your motor has less kv (more torque) and larger sized rotor (more torque and wattage) vs. his 3665 motor so your motor can spin the larger prop easier. I ran a m645 which is less amp draw then the x645 with a 4074 2200kv leopard and the motor pulls some amp and can heat up if im not careful. It's a lot of prop and you have to be careful with it especially with higher kv motors.

Sorry guys, don't mean to hyjack the thread. I was going to put a m445 on my Pursuit ( Leo 2200Kv, Seaking 180A and 4s setup). But now I just realized the prop I had is a m545, is m545 alot more prop than m445, don't see this prop mentioned here often, any help is appreciated.

The m445 is 1.4 pitch the m545 is 1.5 pitch so yes its more prop then m445, but isn't as much as a jump as the m645. My Leo 2200kv, spun the m645 but I had to be very VERY careful with it. The leo 2200spins the m445 very well so the m545 maybe a nice happy medium. Set the timing to 11.25 and give it a try. Run for only a few mins and check temps on everything including the bullet connectors. If you have a datalogger that would be awesome. Note that I only run 2p setups with Leo 2200

Just to clarify, you say you only run 2p setups, do you mean you only run 2s set-up which is only 7.4v. I am still new, don't know some of the terms.

I am still new, don't know some of the terms.A 2p setup for example is running 2 4s packs parallel instead of running 2 2s packs in series it definitely helps when trying to run larger props
