Sorry I know this has sort of recently been covered..but expert advice would be appreciated...:sorry:

My SV currently has adjustable trim tabs, m445 prop (s&b), scuffed bottom, and 6000 Max amps lipos. I think I've got the boat set up quite well, and I can get a max speed of 38.2 mph (gps) on glass water, closer to 40 when the water is a little choppy. Anyway since putting the gps in the boat I've become obsessed with wringing as much speed out of the boat as possible but I think I've hit the limit with the stock motor/esc setup.

So....I decided to order an Ammo 2300 and Hydra 120 from Steven - question is what prop should I be running with with this setup? I was wondering if a X640 or X642 would be a good choice? X637 has been suggested with stock esc but I'm not so worried about keeping amps down with the Hydra. I like the "hole shot" that the 2 blade prop gives...so would rather avoid going 3 blade.

Given the speed I can get with the stock motor/esc setup any guesses as to what I could achieve with the Ammo/Hydra combination?

By the way, I don't race but just enjoy a visit to the lake for a "play"! :w00t:

Thanks!

Rob

Holeshot won't be an issue. keeping the boat on the water and motor below 150 degrees will be the issues.
6-series props have too much pitch and will heat things excessively. 40mm is too much prop for the Ammo IMO.
my suggestion - get the smallest 4-series you can fit on a 3/16 shaft.
I run a modified 437/3 and that's plenty. Can't comment on 2 blade props, I simply do not run 2 blade props on this boat with the Ammo.

Thanks Ctones for the advice...the Ammo motor turned up today so I will be able to test it out over the weekend. I've ordered a 3 bladed x437 and and x440, and will report back the performance difference between the 2 motors/props asap, whilst obviously keeping a close eye on those temps..don't want to smoke it on the first run...!

Thanks again
Rob

Guessing 4S lipos?

yes 4S lipos - just wiring up the Hydra now...looks like the BEC has to be disabled though which is a pain, as the stock esc was fine on BEC.

in most cases;
more speed = more pain in the ass

...just ask a racehorse.:w00t:
