i need help picking a new hull that will handle ruff water better than the supervee 27. i would like to use all the hardware and the motor/esc from the supervee. the 2 i was looking at are the titan 40 and the triton. i like the flood chamber in the triton but not the cost. is it worth the xtra money over the titan? im not looking for a rocket just something that will get me into the mid 20s and looks good the bigger the hull the better. thx todd

My own personall thought is no purchase one of those 40" cats off ebay for around 50.00 . that seems like a good size. since your gonna put your hardware in you could get it and gut it. re-inforce where needed and youve got a kinda large good looking sleeeper boat. thats what my plan is. I should be very fast with a 18.00 hull.

I'm in the same boat....I want an FE, maybe the titan 33.....10" beam sounds stable and a brushless set-up. I just don't want an SV27 blow-over! I also can't afford $800 bucks.

40" for the SV motor/esc????? Thats seems a bit large for that set up, don't ya think?

Myself, I'm thinking the Faigo 540XL 12 turn and a Castle 225 in the Titan 33 with twin rudders.

Well maybe 2 Sv systems in a hul that big would work. I'm thinkin 1 is gona fry unless the prop is like 30mm.

actually the raider 25 or the rio roses 29" hull would be pretty sweet for the SV brushless set-up.

hey part-time, check out the Raider 25 that Steven has the video of...thing is crazy quick......look under the hulls link, here on OSE.

Part Time, you may want to look into a deep-V with high freeboard. Doozie runs Electro-Vee boats for that reason. He trips, flips, & spins them out and they seem to always land on their bottom. Given that the E-V is no longer readily available
[ & they're ABS], I'd check out the Aeromarine Challanger hull. At 31 X 9.50 inches they have a pretty high freeboard. If you mount the motor far astern to keep the batteries close to the hull centerline in front of the motor, power it with the SV system, you may have the right combo. It's sharp looking with traditional offshore raceboat lines & I'm thinking it should run in the high twenties.

the BBY oval master offshore has a good freeboard also.....and if you got the dough they have it in carbon fiber....sweeeet.

Put a 9 or 10XL , Cuda 125 in the Triton hull with a flood chamber and have a ball!!
We have two of them running in the club with Neu 1515 1Y on 4s 2p and they are blistering fast and self right within seconds.
They have a shallow vee but handle the chop pretty well.

Agreed about the OM. I have a rare 'glass OM 26 coming this week which I'll use for choppy water days with one of Doozies "special" 700 motors on 12 cells.

I run a Triton w/o flood chamber with 10xl and 16 cells. I may be lucky, but it's only landed on its top once. Handles rough water very well in my opinion.

Doug, 'yer readin' my mind ! Next project after the OM 26 is to transfer the running gear from my blowover-prone Titan 29 [ 9xl, Cuda 125, oops Hydra 120, Speedmaster] to a Triton hull. No more rescue boat hassles ; yahoo !!! :)

I hear ya. But I'll also tell you. I am killing those guys with my Titan 29 and the same setup.:D (fine tuned)
They tend to get a little too froggy knowing that if they flip they'll be back in the race. And the Titan is better in race water and the corners.;)

Man, That's sweet !! Wanna let out which prop you're using on the Titan ? I'm using an M445 [pending a data-gathering run with the now-installed Eagle Tree setup.] ;)

Doug, off topic, but I just checked out your club site ! Super cool !! " Scale, Sail, or Rooster-Tail " ; I love it !:)

Thank you sir, we're working hard to build the FE side. It looks like this may be our year.:)
I'm running a x442 on my Titan with a 2200kv Neu. I can prop it up but run out of lake quickly. With the the 442 the equipment is loving life.

no youve had a sv27 blowover... or rollover?

Ah, those Neu motors ! Someday ! The 9xl at 1853 kv seems pretty happy with the m445 , but the EagleTree run will shed light.

Mich., the Titan 29 has blown over [ full hydro-like aerobatics] into some serious headwind. What a sight, but not kind on the goodies. :D

D.Smock,
Those are the 2 nicest hardware setups I have seen yet. I prefer the Triton because of the flood chamber but the Titan looks like a handling machine. Gotta love the straight white hulls. EXCELLENT craftmanship!

D.Smock, how much would a Triton and hardware setup like you have go for? I would take the cheap way out and get an SV27 but I want a flood chamber for the obvious reason. Orrrrr..... are you letting go of your Triton anytime soon?????

Piranha2,
I don't own one, I built that one for a friend. Check out OSE for all the parts and if you decide to build one, I'll send you some setup pics if you want.;)

Hull, Speedmaster stinger and tabs, Fuller turn fin, a 9XL,125 combo would be a good choice, 8XL if you want a real screamer,.150 cable and collet. and a x442 or x642. Steven may have a Neu 1515 1Y if you want more power than you need. :D
You won't build it for the cost of a SV27, but you won't be sorry either.;)

I would say close to 600 for the complete build Piranha.

Thats in the ballpark unless you go Nue, Hydra and 4s2p. Then you'll be over a grand.

$600 is reasonable......D. Smock, SJFE thank you for all the advice and knowledge you have provided to the newbies out here.....as far as Steven, thank you for giving me that FE bug when I visited you a couple of months ago in the showroom. You showed me everything RTR then said, "yeah, but you really want one of these though!". A custom hull with flood chamber. hmm.....thanks?
