I'm putting a Neu 1509 1y in my pickle and was gonna use a hydra 120 but can't seem to find one anywhere. Is the seaking 120 just as good? I know I've asked alot of questions lately and appreciate the help you guys have given me. So if my questions seem stupid or repetitive it's because I have no friggin idea what I'm doing. I'm having alot of fun learning. Thanks again.

Will this be a 4S (14.8v) boat?

The seaking 120 should work, but I'd like to use the 180A (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ker-seaking-180) because I like to have the headroom.
I ran the Neu 1512 2D on 4S in a 24" Fiberglass hydro and a seaking 120a. the ESC blew the caps but survived the ordeal. If you go with the 120a add a cap bank (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=etti-e035-lv&cat=136)for insurance.

Keep in mind that my Neu 1512 2D has a max surge watts of 2000
...and your 1509 1Y has a max surge watts of 1500 so it shouldn't punish your esc as much as mine did

Thank you.

The 1509 1Y is a 2S motor. Maybe 3S, but not 4S. It's 3600 Kv.

I use that motor in my N-2 Offshore boat, 2S 10,000 MAh packs and X442 prop. It's an 80-90 amp setup.

Here's the part that confuses me. I plan on using 2-2s 5000mah batteries. So not knowing any better I'm assuming thats 4s? Thanks guys for helping me out.

Good eye David, I saw it as 2600kV. I guess I shouldn't answer postswhile driving.

it will be 2S in parallel or 4S in series

So i'm taking it D Smock when he used this setup he ran it 2s in parallel

Now I get it. Need to do some soldering. 5.5 Bullets over Deans?

As D newland said, the 1509 1y has a kV too high for 4S

Maybe a 1415 1Y (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=neu-1415&cat=117)

Thanks. I think I'm all set. Saw that a member makes 5.5 bullet parallel adapters. Save me some work.

Sounds like you already bought the motor...??

If not, you will be happier going with a 4S setup over a 2S setup. If you go with the 1509 2Y motor, it has half of the Kv as the 1Y and would be considered a 4S motor. 4S1P. It's safer on the ESC to go with more voltage rather than more amps to achieve your wattage output goals. 2S setups are typically amp hogs.

Anytime you have a choice to go with higher voltage vs. higher amps, go with the higher voltage setup.

Yes. Purchased it last night. I was going by D. Smocks thread and wanted to put what he used in the same boat. Could not find anyone selling the Hydra 120. So I was concerned about the seaking being compatible. This stuff is confusing but you guys have helped alot. So voltage over amps always.
First boat I modified was a Miss Geico. Took out the motor and esc and put in a Leopard 4082 and seaking 180 on 8s (not knowing what the hell I was doing and the 2-4s batteries barely fit). Friggin thing flys. Flipped it several times until I figured you gotta lower the strut to keep it in the water. I'm in florida so swimming after it was no problem. Bought a Stiletto and put a hook on it. My retrieval boat. Busted three flex cables on the Geico already. Broke right where cable meets steel. Got a lake in the back yard. So access to do my thing is easy. Thanks again for your help
