Here is the hull with its hardware, this boat don' t need flaps and turnfins. The motor is a CC1717 1580kV the Speedmaster strut from OSE is perfect with twin rudders and motor mount is made by Hervé http://www.mini-meca-rc.fr/ . Flexshaft is a Prestwich Model boats, I hope it' s strong enough This hull is awesome http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/640/waouw.gif http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/640/waouw.gif http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/640/waouw.gif

I won' t paint the Rapid hull the finish is very high quality. So I made 3 sheets of stickers to print on transparent or white vinyl, I' m not sure which one is the best, may be white for better colors? Price is good: 30 €uros/38 US$ for the three sheets. What vinyl? tranparent or white?

I just put an order for one set transparent outside quality. If I need to put a sticker on a dark part it' s possible to put the sticker on a white vinyl.

Racemaster is very popular hull in my country.

Most of us have Leopar 4082 or Castle 1520 1600KV with 6S 5000mAh akupack. We are very happy with this setap, Racemaster drives well with X447.

Alfa Spirit
01-24-2012, 07:47 PM
This is cool, I'll run the deep vee with a Castle Creations 1717 motor, same range with Leopard 4082. This motor is now discontinued. 4 pole motor, 1580kV, Motor diameter is 50mm, The CC1717 is 85mm long and the weight? 570 grammes...
Are you running with 6S 1P or 6S 2P parallel wiring. What do you think using 3S packs?
Here is rhe monster

I thought you bought the MHZ Racemaster????? http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?31150-MHZ-39-quot-Racemaster&highlight=

"With 2 rudders it' s easier to adjust the trajectory, flaps will help too. I hate turnfins I hope I won' t need those parts
Using two 6S packs will help me to find the right balance, what do you think??

I did it, I put an order for a white Racemaster and I will sell my MHZ Fountain Dragon Lady, like new, untouched, undrilled. I prefer the Racemaster, those two deep vee' s have the same lenght, same V design."

Litlle bit litght....

Rapid is Racemaster, but only for Czech local market. Everywhere else Rapid should be called Racemaster. Just policy of company.

We all run them with 6S1P 5000mAh and 40mm diameter Leopard motors (i know 4 Leopard equiped boats near by with diferent props and KVs, all perform well ).

We run 6S1P or 2x 3S1P in series, both works well either.

Hey man i am really thinking of building this boat. With the set-up you have what speeds do you think you are going to get? Also what Motor would you recommend since the one you are using is discontinued?

And what offset rudder did you use? Do you really need two??

Would you recommend this boat to a first time builder???

GREAT BUILD!!

Do you know those propeller from Promise Hobby? They are cheap, 20 Euros each. Without talking of the price those props look perfect excellent, they are light, well manufactured . The blades are thicker than Tenschock' s. Just have three-bladed , one of 48mm and l' other made 52mm. The step is of 1,4 for both. This is the right size, Octura X447/3 is recommanded with a CC1717 xith 6S in a 1 meter deep vee . Anyway this is a very good deal, props need to be sharpened, no more

Edit ; those props are made by VXP Propellers and price is 50% down at lzrc. Have a look :

iamandrew
03-09-2012, 10:35 PM
Hey Alfa, mine turned up, the quality of the hull is amazing. I wont be painting mine!
Ive got a 5682 1700KV i was going to run with 5 S packs, but i am starting to think its going to be too big! the weight distribution will be very diffcult with a motor this size. have you got any plans for yours? ive allready got a 3/16 drive setup and stinger drive, no rudder yet.

Alfa Spirit
03-09-2012, 11:34 PM
Oh yes, the Rapid or Racemaster are very nice, the materials and finish are very high quality, I don' t paint mine. I use vinyl adhesive color sheets for places and stickers for an Outerlimits replica. A Leopard 5692 is very big and heavy, 880 grammes, my Castle Creations 1717 is 560 grammes. If you want to use the Leopard 5692 this is not a problem, heavy motor adds stability for the hull you can use 3S + 2S batteries, 3S on the left side. I use 2 rudders, found a model xhich can be reversed to have a symetrical mount
IMPORTANT: The motor must be installed on the back of the hull
If you are interested I sale this set of stickers and I have stickers for cockpit, let me know if you need one

Hey Macdon, yea its definatly a nice hull.
Its very narrow though, its sort of like a persuit hull but lengthend. so the transom is similar size. Very good build quality. MMP have been good to deal with as well

Hey Andrew, any feedbacks on this hull handling chop?
Im currently scratch-building a 40 incher cig boat, but if that doesnt pan out its good to have alternatives.

iamandrew
03-10-2012, 04:46 AM
well in some of the youtube videos its usually pretty flat. the V hull angle is almost the same as the persuit.
When mines built ill end up using it in a salt water lake.
The hatch is amazing. its a PERFECT fit. its got less than a 1mm gap around the whole thing, and the hatch bit that slides into the hull is quite deep, so if its taped down you probably wouldnt need hatch locks at all.

I might answer your question if you answer mine. I'd probably still be hesitant though since I don't think you're actually going to build this boat. All your build threads ever are, are pics of your gear nicely posed by the hull. They seem to move backward if anything, and you've never finished a build. What gives? Don't they have epoxy in France?

I was talking with people frim MMP and looked to Rapid and Racemaster builds on forums, the motor must be placed near the back of the hull. This is the best choice for stability, and especially if thee motor is big like the CC1717
Distance between back hull to motor = 20cm to 25cm. More and hull will dancing when you turn

This has got to be some kind of record! 6 months, 108 posts and nothing but stickers! After all this what are you going to do if it ever gets used and gets some scratches or stress cracks? Never really understood why people spend big money/time on airbrushed paintjobs and such unless you are running in a scale class that requires it, every one of my boats has at least one good scratch or worse. Can't avoid it unless it's a shelf queen!

The Scorpion 3026 1400kV produce continuous 1700 Watts or 3400 Watts for two motors which gives 155 amps under 6S, it is widely enough !Divided by two 77,5A. The Castle Creations 1717 1580kV can redeem 3500Watts continuous. This is the motor that I have planned for the Rapid, with a Seaking 180 and I've cracked the set of Scorpion, the 1400kV are no longer manufactured I could touch has a very good price. I therefore ask myself the question mono or twin...?

my 4082 has turned up
Ive decided on running 4S on a 2000 KV Leopard and about a 42 to 45mm prop.
Next decision is on whether or not to run a Inline rudder, or an off set rudder.
Ive got two spare, so if i run the long rudder, I can do inline, or use a shorter bracket and run offset.
ive heard monos can have "turning" issues if the rudder is too far back

Thank you, thank tou!

It take a long time because I have a job, my hobbies are not 100% model boats ,...
I changed 3 times the setup. First I wanted to use a CC 1717 but this (very good) motor have too much torque.I decided for a twin setup with FMT outrunners 1700kV . When Scorpion stopped 3026 series (now they are 3226) I had opportunity to buy a set of Scorpion 3026 1400kV, I installed FMT 1700kV in an other hull. Don' t worry about the Rapid, this hull is a real beauty, very good hardware including Speedmaster stingers, the HOR Racing one will be installed on the FOUNTAIN P1, this deep vee is 130cm long, 4092- 930kV motors and 10S for each motor

the main issue i had, was trying to find previous builds that were similar to what i wanted to do to the hull.
2 6S packs do not fit in the hull, unless you run the motor 5CM from the transom, and then have the packs in the middle of the hull.

Yep MHZ Racemaster and the MMP Rapid is the exact same hull.
Im now going to use a 3/16 drive setup, a 45mm prop, 4082 2000kv leopard, Inline rudder, Ive made my motor mount bracket, so at the moment ....
Glue in motor mount, Bend Brass Stuffing Tube, Find location for Servo after doing those two things, glue in some battery mounts!
I allready have everything :)
I think im going to stick with 4S packs in parallel. they are cheap, and should probably get it to 40mph with 10 minute runs :)
