Anybody use this yet? Looks great and monitoring real time rpm plus 2 temp readings sounds fantastic for dialling in not to mention avoiding costly smoke/fire/heat damage when experimenting. I like the fact that it is small, lightweight and has the antenna built into the handle. Comments/suggestions?

Can be had for around $230 delivered. Link to mt-4 Radio. http://www.airtronics.net/index.php/airtronics-mt-4-pistol-grip-radio-2-4g-w-telemetry.html#

It is SANWA, not Sawana. SANWA is the manufacturer of the Airtronics radios. In the U.K. and elsewhere I believe they are still labeled SANWA.

Hi Guy's ,

It seems again with the more desirable brand of radio that the R/X is expensive to replace , the more cost effective route would be to buy GTB / Flysky system & buy a Quanum telemetry system , which also offers a new Temp / Amp function in real time off hobbyking to attach it to the antenna . The Flysky system has many satisfied owners , including guy's that have high level of experience in our hobby , so the Flysky must be pretty good for the price , not to mention the inexpensive price to replace receivers compared to higher priced systems .

Given the fact both radios mentioned are probably produced in the same country as each other , which offer the same labor laws & pay rates I don't see why there should be such a variant with pricing in R/C . It may be argued that R&D is why more desirable brands are more expensive & sure they offer more functions , though with receivers being unrealistic in their pricing to replace , I do see an alternative ......

Such as what is taking place with Brushless Motors , i hope it is the case that cheaper radio systems become comparable with higher priced units , which will benefit the end user .....

Just a thought ,

Thanks for input, especially the receiver costs which are stupid high ($79-$129). After mucho searching and receivers being under $8, it seems like this unit is coming out on top when it comes to value and ease of use and even range. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHV2OhN43Lo. Here is something really interesting. Take a look at this video. It's in chinese but skip to the 1.25 min mark and watch from there. Really good feature for a boat if you ask me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmHTapLqIus&feature=related Bought a brand new unit with 3 spare receivers for under $70 delivered, thanks again.

Hi Snowride ,

Just pointing out their is no need to spend all your pay on gear that is not particularly required , or at least not at the price to obtain it , for reasons I outlined . 2000-04 I lived in Koahsiung Southern Taiwan & seen firsthand the conditions in which labor is exploited in Asia , so if you can buy gear at reasonable prices then at least you are not being exploited yourself ....

For the price that branded gear is being sold at , I would love to see a made in U.S.A label on it providing work for you guy's . In my teens I had a made in U.S.A GT BMX that carried much prestige & great quality .....

Obviously not all quality gear comes out of China , & I do believe you get what you pay for . Though my Flysky is has given me 18 months of service without concern ( just would like to buy Quanum Telemetry system now ) - for the money , it was a good buy .....
