Just saw this Boater guy & thanks for posting.
Although I use the older version in my scale boats that run Lipos on old brushed motors & ESC's, this new one appeals to me as I can raise the alarm voltage.
The older ones are set at 3.3V which believe it or not is too low. The mah capacity of a 45C 5000mah pack can be fully drained before the voltage curve drops to 3.3V because the load may only be 15 or 20 Amps.
I pulled one pack out of a boat that hadn't even hit the alarm after more than an hour of cruising around & the capacity left in the pack was 2% with a resting voltage of 3.55V/cell. I usually use 25C packs & the problem isn't quite so bad, but on this occasion I put a 45C pack in by mistake without thinking.
I'm not sure if you will hear the alarms in a fully sealed boat flashing past at 45+ mph though.
I'll definitely be getting a couple in my next order to try them out though.
Cheers.
Paul.

I tried to find something that would work with both my two 3 cell lipos, t( so 6 cells) that would give a reduced throttle when a predetermined low voltage occurs. I go this

http://www.dimensionengineering.com/CellShield.htm

only problem is, when it goes into low throttle, you bring the boat in, once the throttle is neutral it resets itself, so the leds then go back to green and you cant tell which where the lowest volt cells

ESC's need to get a jst plug and put indiv. cell voltage on data logging, anyone wanna give me a grant? :bounce:
