Just finished the Bud scheme. Is the x642 the best prop for the stock electronics?

Not sure what "best" prop is depending if you want speed or run time or the happiest medium between the two.

Your Bud scheme is really nice man, great choice!

A bit more speed out of the stock electrics would be welcome. The esc and motor have yet to hit 80 degrees on an all-out near-10-minute run on 6000MAH batteries with the stock prop. Love the way the boat handles. I am prepping the stock prop this weekend, was just waiting for my new balancer.

I also have the Spartan, and we have that up to 55 MPH with some minor mods/prop, and that's plenty fast for water. Sure some dudes are talking about speeds MUCH faster than this with other props and big motors, but bad things can happen on high-speed crashes as well!

try a m445..i have the 1800 motor in a geigo with the m445 and it runs pretty good...watch your temps as always.....i run mine 4 and a half to 5 min and its prob 120 or so degrees

I'm gonna say the 642 is as close as you'll get to the "best" prop with the stock electronics...............although Ron's suggested m445 may work very well too.

You could also consider a Grim 42x55, tried it on mine and it picked up 4mph over a X642. Temps were a bit high, but we were running in very warm water. M445 was another 1.5 mph faster than the grim, but it was hotter again. I usually just run the X642 unless i want to do a couple of speed runs.

You may give a Prather s220 a try.................... http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=hpi-prather-s220

I put the grim 42*55 on there from the day I bought it and it won't stop bouncing at high speeds. Do you think the prop is the problem? I can't run the boat at full throttle with out it wanting to flip over, even with the batteries all the way up front. Please someone tell me what to do to stop the high speed bouncing. The last thing I can do is to put the stock prop back on and test it. Any advice?

Have you tried raising your strut a little bit?

I moved the batteries forward, and never had a problem--even hauling ass with my 4074 2200kv with a 445. What batteries are you using, I use 5600 or 6000 mah. Try the back of battery forward to where the flex shaft meets the collet. Generally speaking, catamarans will bounce a little bit due to the hydrodynamics of the hulls. My shaft is even with the bottom (put on a table and the shaft and the bottom are same level).

I got the 445 and balanced and polished it and here it is..... on my second run for the day I had a blow over after crossing the wake of my buddies Geico but it was flat out flying, literally!! I did notice that my run time was alittle shorter but it sure dug in.

spent about an hour under a microscope to thin out the edges, knife edge and then put a high shine on it, now it really sings

I get my props razor sharp, but I only shine a bit with some WD and Scotch brite, along with super fine sandpaper. What steps do you use get the incredible mirror shine? Damn, that's the nicest prop I've ever seen!

damn i had to put sun glasses on to look at that prop. I've always like the m445, i ran it with a ul1 motor and my geico hit a recorded 47, could have been faster another day but only had gps in the boat a couple times. burnt up my ul1 motors so now im running the stock 1500 kv proboat motor with the 445, I just picked up a b225 to try. I believe it has46.7 mm diameter. As a side not did prather get bought out? I thought the b225 was a prater prop but it said hypermarine on the package i believe. try the x642 on 5s. I know that set up in my super vee was really fast. I also have an x 645 but have noticed the m prop to be faster so im gonna do some work on it to try and unleash some more high end speed. I have the 42x 55 one detounged and one not but i dont really run them so couldn't tell ya. Still wonder what happened to my x440/3:confused2: I have the x337/3 but it's pretty small, think i bought it for my super vee.

I think you should stay with the 642, good all around prop

UPDATE: I sold the stock motor and ESC and now run the Leopard 4074 2200kv on 4s with the Seaking 180. Have tried P215, x442, x445, and x642. The 642 hits the LVC right away. The 445 hits the LVC sometimes, but when it doesn't it REALLY hauls ass. The 445 I balanced may be a bit much, as it creates some serious amp draw, and heat, but I really want to make it work. Anyone else playing with this motor combo? MUCH faster than the 642 with the stock motor. The 442 scoots really good, and gives good temps and run times. The 215 scoots really good, but not as fast as the 445. I run the 215 on my Spartan on 6s.

I polish under a scope and use rubber wheels and diamond polishing paste. I own a dental lab and polish metal all the time.. If anyone wants me to polish out your balanced props let me know and I will be happy to do for you - N/C, its kinda fun

My Mistic RIPS with the stock prop over the x642 and handles very well all-around.Cooler temps to. It slingshots out of the corners and seems to have quite a bit more top speed. Im going to try a x640 and see what happens, dosent seem like a stock unit should work this good but it dose. Stock motor , seaking 120 ESC , 40c 2s
