Looking for a 1/4" bore x457/3 prop. Any ideas?

Can anyone here tell me where I can buy a 1/4" bore Octura x457/3 prop preferably sharpened and balanced? I can only find 3/16" bores in that prop. I've searched and searched. Seems like it would be easy to find since you FE guys mention them pretty frequently.

Is there a comparable prop from another company that would perform about the same as the x457/3?

I don't suppose you could bore out a 3/16" to make it a 1/4". That sounds like a bad idea I guess.

By the way this will be for a 51" FE w/ 2028.

    Thanks,

    JTL

This prop is not available in 1/4" bore. Few props under 70mm are made with 1/4" bores. If you want to run that prop, or other 3/16" bore props, get a step-down stub shaft on a 1/4" flex cable.

Or if the hub is thick enough in diameter you may find someone who can make a 1/4" bore in it. I once had it done for me on a pair of Octura X457's and it worked. But it has to be done absolutely properly on a professional turning machine. Otherwise you'd have massive problems with unbalanced props due to a bore out of center.

So when thinking about this, forget about making it at home with a drill. Even with the right equipment it may be tricky but it can be done.
For a similar prop, recently I bought a pair of PropShop 5514/3 with 1/4" in SS. They might not be cheap but they already come with a 1/4" bore.

      Best regards,
      Manuel

          You must specify 1/4" or 3/16" bore.I got 1/4" when I wanted 3/16"

Very nice prop and I "assume" the "E" is for electric.

I would pass mine to you but, they need sharpening and I went a bit heavy on mine... might need to buy another.

They will typically take $40 for an offer.

Well balanced but, need sharpening & re-balance.
