These are a few pics of how my 1 of 2 motors will be strapped in. I made them on CNC Press Brake. and a shot of my toys and garage as well

which hull is that? Nice mount, that motor doesn't look like it will be coming loose, and if its aluminum it will also act as a heat sink.

Mich. Maniac
04-26-2007, 09:37 PM
Its actually just a cheap plastic 36" cyclone boat off ebay. yeah its aluminum and turned out very sturdy both ways. when I mount it for a run im gonna put this rubber around it so aluminum doesnt conform to motor and let motor spin. the hull has been re-inforced A-LOT.

Some of those cheap boats from ebay do look neat to gut and mod. I got a cheap SH knock off from ebay. My dad works at a metal shop so I have access to loads of metal working machinery.

You know what would complete this build is a left and right hand decal of OSE's new logo.

wow looking good, is that a t-rex heli?

I hope you dont mind I moved your thread. SJFE suggested a boat building forum and I thought it was a good idea. That way your build doesn't get lost so easy in all the regular posts. Thanks for sharing your build with us!

Mich. Maniac

No problem. If that is the case you could always shorten it as well if you want. I have bought everything for this build here at OSE except the hull. I will continue to post as I finalize things and a couple vid links when I get her wett! should be done with build this weekend.

Jesus that thing is gonna fly like a bat out of hell. What is your estimate on speed?

Mich. Maniac
04-29-2007, 10:45 AM
working at the beginning with Mr. Fuller and Chris Fine, estimated around 65 but I dont think tis gonna be quite that. we will see i was supposed to get 2 stuffing tubes from fd which has been 2 weeks now. Be glad their is OSE!

Steven Vaccaro

How many cells are you running to each motor?

Mich. Maniac
04-29-2007, 12:19 PM
I am going to start with a monster 6cells lipo each 20C. I will see if the motors get too hot and back off if needed

Steven Vaccaro
04-29-2007, 01:45 PM
Make sure to share some video. Its going to be a screamer. I would like to put my estimate in for top speed. 55mph with x447's.

Yeah it's a NewQiDa X-Cyclone from CycloneToy, I also got one for 30Euros (40$) on Ebay!
It's my first boat!
I first upgraded it with 2x600Race, 2 pack of 9xGP2200 80Amps ESC home made hardware, see the video here:http://perso.orange.fr/pleindetrucs/index.htm
I recently purchase a Feigao 8XL to put in with 10 or 12 cells!
CHEAP TOY!

Here are latest pics. second set of tubes as I used a tubing bender on these and an alarm clock on 1st set. Also pictured is my Y harness for speed controllers. Other than 2 hydra 120's this built is complete except for a few nut&bolt tightening. When I get the hydras I tune & Film. Sorry for blurry pics.

wow 6cell lipo per motor !!
i think you mean 6 cells nimh. and lipo.
cool project.

I will say 22.2 Volts 20C which I believe 100Amp constant for 1 minute and check temp.'s. I will video so you can either see motor melt through hull or a yellow rocket across lake of glass

LOL. Quick tech question: Do you need a certain kind of lipos to be able to withstand this kind of abuse?

Eyekandyboats
05-02-2007, 08:28 AM
yes. and the sticker on the battery is not always right.
you should not draw even Half of the C value when useing the batteries if you want to have them for a while.
2p or go home.
and don't get max amps cells

MoparB
05-02-2007, 10:56 AM
OK, excuse my ignorance, because I am still learning, but what is that C rating that I always see, and what is 2p? I guess you saw my other thread, where I plan to run twin 8xls backed up by lipos. I'm not sure what voltage I want to settle at, but I want to start off with 14.8, and then see where it goes from there. What kind of lipos should I be looking for? Should I be putting more voltage than that into the motors?

Rex R

C=capacity, a 4000 mah has a c of 4000 mah(or 4 amp hours). 10c(10*c) would be 40amps.
2p is 2 packs in parallel(4ah + 4ah which would yield 8ah @10c 80 amps safely)

Ok, now it all makes sense. Thanks.

Hi guys,
Need some advices
Would you please take a look at my boat on http://perso.orange.fr/pleindetrucs/index.htm, it's the same as Mich.Maniac but the 2nd video shows my new setup (just first tested today) with 1xFeigao08XL 2 packs of 12xGP2200, cheap Mystery 80A contro. and the rest is home made!
best result is with K40,5 prop.
Tell me what you think about it, I feel like there's a little issue, prop seems to be over-cavitating for the first few seconds after I push the throttle up!
Steven is this the first Feigao you've ever sent to France? :D

Mich. Maniac
05-06-2007, 01:36 PM
could you post a pic of your hardware? or describe?

ED66677
05-06-2007, 01:47 PM
the motor is linked to the propshaft with 1" of 4mm flex, the propshaft is supported by 2 flanged ball bearing in an aluminium tube, the axis of the prop is right at the bottom of the hull V, the "bad thing" is that the rudder is in the center line 1" behind the prop, the prop is 3.2" behind the transom

avengersteve
05-06-2007, 02:34 PM
that is looking awsome!

Steven Vaccaro
05-06-2007, 02:42 PM
So are you running 24cells in series to the 8xl?

Not the first shipment to France. I have a few customers there.

ED66677
05-06-2007, 02:44 PM
Yeah! I'm pretty proud of the result, especialy because it's a cheap configuration and because it's the first run with the Feigao motor!
I'll test different prop next time, but I need to get some sort of in-board analizer, really need to know precisely where I am and where I'm going in term of Amps and rpm!

ED66677
05-06-2007, 03:06 PM
No Steven they are in // so that's 14,4V 4400mA
I did choose to have 2 packs in // because I think the average internal resistance is lower than 1 pack that would have the same capacity, so a better general efficiency.

Well its at a stand still right now, im bidding on a new soldering iron on ebay to solder my deans and bullet connectors and Im waiting for hydras to be in stock and for me to have some $$. house, 2 jeeps, kid, on my one income are killing me. I need a credit app for OSE! Next week I will finish all the details and take pics of final steps. grinding flats on motor shafts, prop shafts, and install electrics. I was gonna use waterproof box but ran outta room.

SJFE
05-11-2007, 09:44 PM
OMG...that would be the end of me.. An OSE credit card. That bill would be more than my car payment per month....LOL

@Mich.Maniac
just been told on a french offshore forum that this hull is a copy of the Kyosho Blue Stream see http://www.offshore-rc.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10988

thats a cool lookin boat, cant read what they are saying but pics are cool, just a single in that one. I had to go twin. If I ever build another I will have plenty of parts! Ive gotten my prop shafts ground 1 motor shaft and I think if I can get the hydras I will be ready to go.

Mich.
have done a first run?

Mich. Maniac
05-31-2007, 10:59 PM
No runs yet. I just received my esc's this week. 2 120's. Ive gotta solder and figure out cooling and It should be gettin wet in 2 more weeks. Im goin campin for 4 days otherwise I would do it this week. Ive also goot to say this boat has about 50 hours of building, making parts. reinforcing fitting. securing. wiring, and about 850.00 of purchased parts. It was probly too much for my first build in years. so expect vids good or bad shortly.

me too! if it runs fine i'll do the same on mine but with 2x8XL (already have one in it)...
... under 40 volts to see if it can also fly!:D

Mich. Maniac

Ran this for first time. What cant I say about this thing. it is WILD! I mean loose and sloppy to drive. I didint get film yet but I willl this week. I did throw Garmin in and fastest speed read 62 even. I was very happy to see it run. took a few adjustments on struts and there is a small water leak still I want to take care of. pics tonight at least. It throws about 10' tall 15' long roost.. people at lake were in aww. until weeds got hung up on rudder.
