Which prop would you guys reccomend? I have my genesis on the way. The setup so far will be a turnigy xk-4074 2000kv(same as leopard) t180 esc and run on 4s. I'm only using it for sport boating so don't want it for just saw passes but something that gives me good speed but decent run times. Thanks

I was running a 2200kv on 4s2p with a m445. Ran low 50s for about 8 minutes on 10000mah. I would imagine the 2000kv would put your but with that prop in the mid 40s.
Not sure if that helps.

I was thinking of trying that prop. Will prob try the x642 as I have one and see what the temps are like first.

Heya James
Ive just took my boat out for a spin this morning, spent almost 3 hours sanding a X645 and put it n the genesis, ive also got the 642 as well, and to be honest, it wasnt worth the 3 hours and killing hands getting the 645 sharp(er)
so yeah ive compared the two of them, id stick with the 642, and if its not fast enough, maybe go to 5S or somthing instead. the 645 is probably a bit big unless you go 3/16 for the entire drive setup. I replaced mine with a 150 to 3/16 drive.
Even with the water dead flat, my genesis runs HEAPS better with the 3 blade 440....

thanks james for asking this. I was just looking for the same answer when I found your question. I have a new genesis and new to boats. I want it fast but more interested in longer run times.
and it seems the more i read, the more confused i get. want to keep it 4s or 5s. so far stock setup with hobbywing 120A esc.which is defective.
(same problem as another poster on here, and that confirmed my suspicions) (turnigy 180a ESC. on the way) 2 - 2S 4000mah 30 to 40C in series
which im thinking might need bigger mah's ratings, for the run times i'm looking for.
I just realized that no one ever posts the run times with their
set-ups, and that I have no idea how long mine should last? was hoping for 10 to 15 minute run times. I know it varies on how you're running it but wondering what range i can expect?
8 to 10 minutes? 10 to 15minutes? My plan is to get it ready for stronger motor first, while learning more about all this.1st was the 180A esc. next will be 3/16 driveshaft,
followed by carbon/kevlar layer inside hull. hopefully by then i will know more about this stuff and will be all ready to swap motors.
All i need is a 70mph boat that gets 60 minute run times, (willing to go 6S if i have to) is that asking too much?.....LOL ( and i would settle for 65mph)
Thanks to all you experienced boaters for helping out us newbies. it has been very informative going through all these posts.

60 min run times lol hehe. battery changes are good ,give things time to cool off a tad. and for you to check temps , i am helping a mate set up a stock genesis with stock pink 36mm motor ,using a 120amp castles hydro he had laying round ,
42x55 gr prop balanced and razor sharp .m442 or x442 is around the ball park with that stock motor, my mg 29 inch cat with 2200kv 4074 leopard / 180amp esc .i2x2s 5000mah 45c-55c burst lipos ,cut off set at 3.4volt run time flat out 6-7min .
lipos are on the limit heat wise very hot .,now setting it up with 2x5s 4500mah in parallel = 9000mah and not using as much WOT ,should see cooler lipos and 15min run times . 2x2s 5000mah in series is still only 5000mah not 10,000 like some people are led to believe . basically it becomes a single 5000mah 4s when 2 x 2s 5000mah are in series ., better off for 4s setting it up on 2x4s 5000mah in parallel for better run times up in the 15 min range

The best way to get long run times is to have the motor geared down instead of direct drive.

Thanks Joker
well it didn't take long to realize new batteries were going to be needed. I had these for rock crawler and was hoping to get away with using them in boat as well.
i'm trying to wait until i replace drive shaft before i start playing with props. i will probably go with 2 - 4S in parallel and up the mah's for longer run times.
just finished soldering 6.5mm bullet connectors on 180A turnigy esc and motor. have a 38mm prop balanced and sharpened to try out.
2nd. maiden voyage scheduled for tomorrow, hope it doesn't quit after 5 minutes again.
New Turnigy 180A esc is different than pictured, seems to have an additional external set of 4 "caps"? soldered on and attached to short wire. they are almost same height and slightly wider than three "caps" between red and black battery wires... hope this is an improvement?
