Hi

I orderd a new pistolgrip 2,4 ghz radio to replace my old pistolgrip 40 mhz.

I use 28 cm wire antennas today.

Are they good for 2,4 ghz or do I have to change ?

When I look around I see small "chubby" antennas. Are these better for 2,4 ghz, or is it a personal thing ?
Are there a "State of the Art" antenna for 2,4 ghz ?

Best regards Henrik

Your 2.4 gig receivers will have short antennas installed from the factory. You cannot use your 'old' antennas for the new radios. The "state of the art" antennas are already on the 2.4 gig receivers.

Tatics have internal antenna's you'll be much happier with the 2.4 systems but if you buy one from hobbyking make sure to set the fail safe, mine was set to full throttle as default and when my boat flipped I would have to get to it soon before it damaged something

Thank you for the answer.

I have bought a Sanwa MT-4.
From the picture it looks like a foot long small cable from the rx ( it look's like my old Hitec rx ) Do I use a antenna tube for this kind of rx ?

Best regards Henrik

I strongly suggest that you run the antenna as far out of the hull as practical, and use an antenna tube. The end of the antenna is the part that 'does the work' so get it as high as you can for best range and reception. Do not run the antenna inside the boat, keep it outside. You'll thank me later....

Rx antenna as hight as you can out of the hull.
The mt-4 has 100mw output.
If you run in salt water protect the end.
The 2.4gh don't like the salt water

Has anybody had range problems on 2.4? I have a cheapo FlySky and can't get it out of range even shoving the antenna inside the hull lol!! I suggest dabbing the tip in some silicone and when I first get my receivers I "LET" the board and add extra LET around the antenna connection. This is where all my Rx's fail. Not from anything I did but poor soldering from the factory.

LET = Liquid Electrical Tape

Only when i flip over at the sea.
