Howdy, Going to put a leopard 4082 2200kv w/ a t180 in my geico. Thinking about turning a x642, m445, and a detongued x645. What kind of Amp draw do you think I'll be pulling? I'd really like the x645 but concerned about amps. I know there is a thread asking the same question about a smaller motor. But thought I'd ask. Would like to run 4s and 5s.

I would recommend sticking with 4s on that motor since the kv is high for a 18.5v. Start with the x642 then work your way up. Do you have a data logger? If not get one! They are the best tools for answering your own question. FYI I had a leopard 4074 2200 kv on 5s2p and I smoked my esc it pulled a peak of 180 amps on an x642 (too much rpm for sport running as this was a SAW setup), now I have a 4082 1500 kv on 5s2p with a m545 and am pulling 155 amps with much cooler temps. Then again I have this motor in a MeanMachine, the Geico could be different.

Thanks for the reply. I bought a data logger. This setup will be used for SAW than moved to a larger SAW twin cat. Thanks, MM

Amp draw is all based on prop size............ if you run an x438 it'll be very low.....................run an x460 and it'l fry the ESC. There is no definative answer to your question, but if you prop it correctly(in the 42-47mm range) you can use a T180a ESC or a swordfish 200a.

I ran the 4082 2200kv on 4s, t180 with a M545 in my mean machine the other day and loved it. The first two runs where almost all full throttle (speeds in the 45-50mph range) and I got just under 5 minutes runtime from 10000mah and electronic temps around 45-50* celsius. The next couple of runs I handed the controller to each of my three children (6, 5, 3.5) for little spirts so there was very erratic throttle inputs, too slow, too fast, stop/start and lot's of in between, the boat was in the water for close to 10 minutes, I thought I'd maybe see smoke when I finally got it in but to my supprise the temps where all below 40*celsius. I hope this give you a bit of an idea.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the input. I'll prop small and work my way up till I get my data logger. Happy boating, MM.
