I had Done a search and can't seem to find anyone running a leopard 4082 2200kv in a genesis on 4s. I've been thinking about getting a genesis and trying the 4082 2200kv in it on 4s with a T180 but most people seem to have this motor on 6-8s with the lower kv. Would this be a good setup? It's just for sport boating so I don't need like 60mph plus or would I be better with the 4074?

On a boat that size you be better off running 6s. That is probably the main reason you dont a lot of people running the 4082 2200kv motor in that boat.

You can run 4s or 6s, but on 6s you will have lower motor and esc temps when using a lower KV motor. Like the Leopard 1450 or 1550kv motor.

This is my old Gen with a 4074 2200 on 4S. Never had any heat issues.

That is plenty fast enough. I think I might go for it on 4s then as I have plenty of 4s packs. Did you gps that?

I have the same set up but I'm running with 6s and a 180 amp esc. I have the longer water jacket and made a custom motor mount for it. I also added a second water pick-up. The
motor and esc run very cool. They don't even get warm to the touch after a long hard run. I have to replace the rudder and strut set-up though.

Ive got the 2200KV on 4S and im looking at temps at about 50 degrees C on the batters and ESC/or motor after full speed runs.
havent been able to get anything hotter than that.
Going to be giving 5S a try on the hobbyking turnigy 4074 2000KV soon and will see how it goes.
Anyone got any idea how much a 150 to 3/16 flex cable thats about 9 in will shorten under load? ive tryed to test and ive got about 4mm gap between the strut and the drive dog

I believe a good rule of thumb is whatever the diameter of the flex is thats the gap to leave between the strut & dog.

I know this is a smaller boat but I run a Nemesis Gold 4082 2200kv on 6s in my MG-29 with an x645 prop. Last time I ran her on this setup with the short water jacket the motor came back at 82 degrees F and the T-180 esc came back at 98 degrees F. By the way, I did a couple of full throttle passes. Don't know for what you want to do if you need to run it on 6s. What are you using for a prop?
