Turnigy 120amp ESC

Guys,

Im wanting to take out my MGM 120amp ESC from my P-spec OBT and replace it with the Turnigy 120amp.

Reason i want to swap it out is i know that the MGM is a much stronger ESC and can easily pull my 1521 powered Neu motors.

I do want to continue not to run water cooling in this boat. However i am posting this to see what other people run in there P-spec OBT (or any UL-1 powered setup) run for there ESC. Do you run water cooling also.

My MGM wasnt water cooled and definatly didnt need it with the UL-1 motor.

t-180 would be better, but too bad it wont fit. I've had 3 turnigy 120's and smoked all three on a somewhat mild setups. Never again will I get one of those.

Hi David !

I (and several local guys) use the T-120 in spec rigs with UL-1 motors with good success. We do however watercool them. My one tunnel that I can configure for P - spec or P power uses a T-180 which, when the cooling fittings are replaced with 90 degree fittings just squeezes in.

I've been running two Turnigy Marine 120s all year in my P Spec rigger and tunnel with no issues. I lost one the year before when my motor failed. The thing to notice is the burst current rating of 240 amps. That's what makes the difference between the Marine 120 and the Aqua Star 120. The Aqua Star won't hold up to P spec racing. We data log average currents around 90 amps with spikes to at least 130 amps. Obviously there are some spikes that go even higher.
