Stuffing Tube Gease NOT to Use?

So I have seen post after post on the different greases and grease/oil mixtures out there that work. What should you (I) stay away from as far as flex drive lubes. (besides KY :nono: or beacon grease :biggrin:)

I know some bearing greases will infuse water and actually sortof foam and cuase lots of friction. And I suppose some greases are too tacky or possibly expand under heat? And definite no no's here?

I would stay away from Silicone based Greases. They are not typicaly high pressure greases (thats what you want to use) and can become gummy over time. I'm sure others know of similar products.

I use the Pro Boat Marine Grease with no problems so far.

stay away from gun oil

Don't use general products like 3-in-One or WD-40. Thin oils are usually not a good idea. Marine greases, 70W+ gear oil, and commercial R/C cable grease are the best bets.

Hey Fluid what do you think of Quick Silver 2-4-c Marine lubricant with Teflon that's what i am using ????

Commercial marine lubes should work fine. They may or may not be the "best" but they work very well.

Me too. That's my favorite to date.

Same for me, using the Quicksilver 2-4-C in all my boats up to the HPR 135 SAW project for several years now. Can especially recommend it for use in the HPR arneson drives and the ball-beared prop shafts.

Auto parts store, brake caliper grease, high temp corosion resistant , doesn't foam , tackey yet viscosity thin enough at temp for wire drives and flex cables, stuff works good
